China called a U.S. block on its seafood 'indiscriminate'. . .

Well, this part at least is malarkey. You discriminate between food that poisons you (China) and food that nourshes you (Other Places).

To get past the language barrier, a graphic representation, for our Chinese friends.

Food That nourishes------>different<-------Food that poisons

                 (Process of Discrimination)

I threw all the frozen seafood in my freezer that came from China in the trash. Hadn’t bothered to check the country of origin but no more seafood from Sam’s or Walmart.

Once I heard how the raised it, no thank you!

Classic comment by George Noory, as he led off his show this evening with this story:

“Aw. Too bad”.

LOL. Does Noory read FreeRepublic?

I realize there are few Americans who have ever visited China, let alone lived there as I have. So, let me tell you..before I left my wife an I could not eat fish due to the high mercury levels; we could not eat pork due to strep. Sui; we could not eat chicken due to bird flu and the list goes on and on and on...

The FDA said sampling of Chinese imported fish between October and May repeatedly found traces of the antibiotics nitrofuran and fluoroquinolone, as well as the antifungals malachite green and gentian violet.

So, I wonder from the above if the chinese "farm" the sea species in such fetid squalor that they need to nuke the sickly animals with antibiotics and antifungals just so they survive to market, and maybe so the open sores aren't too obvious. Yuk.

We lost our family dog to Alpo dog food containing melamine-contaminated wheat gluten from china. A tragic and lasting lesson.

FWIW: I was at Costco today and decided while shopping to examine the packaging of their seafood for Product Origin labels. I found that all the seafood was either Salmon Fillets-Chile, Tilapia-Honduras, Catfish-USA, but the Raw Packaged Uncooked Shrimp I examined was from Thailand. That about summed up what choices were available there.

I had shrimp from Thailand that I tossed out as well from the freezer.

Must admit I never bothered to look at Country of Origin on seafood or fish that I bought frozen until now, but I am looking at Country of Origin now on everything I buy. My grocery bill may go up, but I will not buy seafood/fish from any country but the USA!

"China cannot accept the indiscriminate and automatic detention of four kinds of Chinese seafood by the United States,"

I think we should just run over their seafood with a tank. They should find that acceptable..

Chinese Seafood and other products enter the US in transshipments through other countries. Chinese companies ship products to country A where the product is relabeled "Product of country A" and reshipped from country A to the US. Chinese companies control the ships and the ports. Chinese companies consider this all very shrewed business. And whats a few dead American pets....and people.

"China cannot accept the indiscriminate and automatic detention of four kinds of Chinese seafood by the United States, We'll sell you poison, and you'll like it! I suspect that the Chinese think of us in much the same way as the Imperial Japanese once did.

With an attitude like that, it’s a cinch they got something to hide. We better start testing anything and everything from china for anything and everything we can think of. The more belligerent they get, the more we test.

I think this could be the beginning of a very long nasty argument with the chicoms. I suppose it’s about time. We better start improving trade relations with central/south america.

We could have China by the short hairs if we wanted. We could and should block a lot more and start making demands. They already vote against us at the UN and they are increasingly meddling in international affairs.

You might wanna go a step further. I stopped buying any meat there when I was watching them stock the beef section late one night in cut meats. Does the name Tyson mean anything to you? Thats what was on the boxes they took the meat out of. No more meat from Wally World and no more Sams Choice or Great Value items for me either until they start putting nation of origin on their labels.

Well the WTO says as long as China’s chief inspector says their products meet the USAs safety standards, they’re good to go. No need to involve a sovereign entity like the FDA to inspect food, the WTO is saving us all that expense with our trade agreements.

The word going around Taiwan is that the US is doing this as punishment for the PRC/CCP not allowing the yuen to float.

Well, usual Chinese apologists suddenly become scarce. So those remarks are not far off the mark, I suspect. However, I don't see U.S.-China relationship recovering to what it used to be.

China damaged U.S. security interests with diplomatic moves and military buildup, and recently business interests notably with yuan revaluation. Business interests were able to hold off protests from security interests. Not anymore, I guess.

The stage is set.
