Bob Parks: Black & Right ^ | 6/28/07 | Bob Parks

Elected Republicans are now openly complaining that they are receiving "threats" because of their support for the illegal alien amnesty bill. I guess they now know what it's like to walk around a Los Angeles park after dark.

Immigration Bill Prompts Some Menacing Responses

WASHINGTON, June 27 — The threat came in the weekend mail.

The recipient was Senator Mel Martinez, Republican of Florida, who has been a leading advocate of the proposed legislation for changing the immigration system. His offices in Washington and across Florida have received thousands of angry messages in recent weeks, but nothing as alarming as that letter he received at his home.

If this bill pushes people to such desperate measures, what does this tell them about the will of the people in general?

Nothing. They don’t care, and won’t listen to us.

“When governments fear the people there is liberty”

Absolutely perfect!

People are white hot over this insanity.

Perhaps THIS is the only way to WAKE THESE PEOPLE UP and remind them of WHO they are supposed to represent.

Looks like they are desperate to get enough votes today.

Well, DUH!

That is why it is called "from the consent of the governed."

What is the problem? Isn’t that what our founders gave us? Do these fools think they can do whatever they want without facing the consequences?

Uh, sorry Mel. Congressional offices get letters like that ALL THE TIME. There are a lot of nutcakes out there who obsess on elected officials.

Awe, poor babies! They've suddenly realized that their power isn't divine? Shocking! Just shocking!

This is huge and series.....

This must mean that the folks in favor of this dreadful bill realize they are going to lose.

The final defense of supporters of weak and harmful legislation is to seek a haven in stories that they are being threatened by people who oppose the proposed act.

This is fanciful, stupid and vane.

The people elected these ladies and gentlemen. We pay their salaries; we foot the bills for their profligacy. They have a moral and legal obligation to listen to us.

Americans don't take kindly to their reps representing people other than the citizens.
These reps should know better.

Yep, I threatened Brownback that if he kept supporting this legislation, I would actively campaign against his re-election. (Not worried about his campaign for POTUS since he doesn't stand a chance.)

I admit it. I’m one of those people who issued a threat.

I e-mailed Norm Coleman’s campaign office and told ‘em that I would be reconsidering any future campaign contributions (as well as volunteer effort) if he voted for cloture and/or for the final bill.

And I’m not sorry I did it either.

We pulled down the tyranny of a king once. A few senators shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

He’s just lucky that dueling was outlawed. Something tells me that if this legislation was being rammed through in the days of our founding fathers that there would be a line a mile long of those wishing to duel him.

This would present the perfect opportunity, after this miserable bill has been killed, to engage in a discussion with these "representatives" as to why the 2nd Amendment was really included in our constitution.
