Could've been a great Senator!
Herman Cain is fantastic.
BTTT
bttt
I don't know that Cain will run again (I hope so), but both Ga. Senators should be scared - especially Chambliss who is up next year.
A strong conservative challenger could dump him in the primary, IMO. There is strong resentment, and that photo of him, Isakson and Ted The Swimmer Kennedy ain't going to help Saxby if he faces opposition.
It's not enough to defeat this bill. We then need to go after the shills for the bill.
Just sent to one US Senator. Intending to send it to the other.
(Remember, contact Democrat and Republican senators, alike.)
Chertoff can’t be impeached because he is not an elected official. But he should be replaced because he is obviously not up to this job. Did you see him on TV explaining that the reason the fence isn’t being built is that they have “engineering problems”? For pete’s sake, they can’t figure out how to build a fence? On the planet Oh-Yeah-Sure.
The Framers are turning over in their graves!
Not correct. Alcee Hastings was a judge and was impeached and removed from office prior to being elected a congresscritter.
From what I have read, cabinet-level officials can be impeached and removed from office.
Oh I am sure you are right.
Great idea...impeaching Chertoff for his efforts to hold enforcement hostage in order to get shamnesty and his failure to come up with a means to track visa overstays nearly six years after 9-11.
Agreed. Someone who is speaking for me and most of the people I know.
Chertoff needs to spend less time lobbying Congress for shamnesty and more time doing his job - except that he hasn’t done his job to date anyway. IMO he was the key problem in the federal response to Katrina. He only has excuses for being unable to track visa overstays. He bleats about needing more tools, but workforce sanctions were vastly higher under Clinton. He is a political hack that needs to be shoved out of office, given the National Security importance of his position.
No, he missed the whole point.
We don’t want any more immigration laws right now - we want them to enforce the ones we have, and to build the fence that was signed into law last year.
And don't forget DHS complicity in the prosecution of the BP Agents - where the DHS has now admitted lying.
I like Herman Cain. So far he is the only one I heard (besides me) who called Mitt Romney’s “MittCare” health-care plan as Socialist.
He can move to FL and run for Senate here. He would womp Sen. Illegal Alien (Mel Martinez) in a primary.
We can’t do anything about it. Only the Senate can impeach him, and I am not expecting Dirty Harry to bring this up anytime soon.
Could I run this by you all? (Too shy to post a vanity).
I am going to hand-deliver this letter to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s office Saturday.
Would welcome any suggestions!
Senator Hutchinson;
(I identify myself).I am very hesitant to write a letter to any politician but the immigration bill currently before the Senate, S-1639, is an utter betrayal of our sovereignty and in defiance of common sense. I urge you to abandon all support for this terrible mistake of a bill. There is no need for a new bill. I have yet to hear why enforcement of our present laws is not an option. No political figure has ever once explained to the American people why our present laws cannot be enforced, why they have never been enforced. It is as if all those words on paper were some sort of Scrabble or lines on a Bingo card, meaningless.
There are so many things wrong with this bill I wont bore you with listing them; not the least of which will be massive document fraud if it is passed. But what is more serious is loss of faith in our elected representatives, the contempt and dismissal of United States sovereignty by those streaming across the border, the appearance and the substance of weakness, helplessness and irresolution of Americas politicians and bureaucrats. We seem to have become a country that passes laws and then cannot enforce them. A law is passed to build a fence and yet Chernoff, head of Homeland Security, complains that there are engineering problems that cannot be overcome. It makes him sound faltering, doddering, enfeebled.
Meanwhile criminals and would-be terrorists continue to come across the border. We live with this threat. Members of Congress, the media, and the lobbyists do not.
Why should we believe recycled promises? Senator Hutchinson, the more new promises and new laws that are passed to cover up for twenty years of non-enforcement of perfectly adequate laws, the worse it gets; the more our Congress and country garner contempt and derision, from citizens and non-citizens alike. Senator, we have become laughable.
Make a stand against this bill, and for American honor, probity, trustworthiness. Enforce the present laws, close the border, stop identity theft by cancelling section 6103 of the Internal Revenue code, get serious. Language means something. It is not just noise. Our word must be our bond, there is no other way.
Yours,
