Snow jumps to the 2nd part which he says emphasizes border security.

He skips the first part that gives the illegals status the moment the bill is signed, which means they can’t be deported, which is de facto amnesty.

Tony is much too good a man to be in position of having to push this garbage. The border will not be secured, and the border agents we have in place are so poorly trained that they let the man with TB in when he was in the computer as being sick and should not be allowed to enter.
Tony, don’t debase yourself any further by defending this bill. Take a step NOW by hiring more border agents and do a better job of TRAINING the ones we have-then you can get on tv and talk about S 1348.

Are they forcing you to lie, Tony, or do you really believe all that krap you’ve been spewing about this abominable bill?

You want a better chance of convincing us? Tell us what the Bush plan is for border and illegal immigration ENFORCEMENT is. Explain exactly WHY you haven’t adequately enforced current laws for the past 6+ years. Admot your failure in this regard.

Then lobby for changes to S1348 that require the border to be double fenced the entire length and all current and future employers of illegals to be imprisoned and fined bigtime BEFORE any illegals are legalized. Add provisions to imprison and deport all illegals who have used fraudulent SS numbers and other documents.

Also, add provisions requiring federal agencies like ICE and HS to cooperate with local and State LEOs and pick up illegals that they arrest. Require that these picked-up illegals are NOT let go, but that they are deported.

If you want us to believe you, then do these things (and I’m sure others will add more requirements) FIRST.

I had this idea while driving home the other day.

My amnesty plan: the United States of America should offer amnesty to the first two million illegal immigrants who sign up for it. Give them five weeks to register and then, no questions asked, grant full citizenship to the first two million (based on time-stamps of their applications). Then, everyone else who applied should be deported (and we will know where they live because of their applications) to the capital city of their nation of origin - with the cost being deducted from that nation's annual 'foreign aid'. Just a thought.

S.1348 - CHAPTER 6--LANGUAGE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES
SEC. 766. REQUIREMENTS FOR NATURALIZATION.

(a) Findings- Congress makes the following findings:
(1) Section 312 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1423) requies (they need to fix their spelling error) lawful permanent residents of the United States who have immigrated from foreign countries, among other requirements, to demonstrate an understanding of the English language, United States history and Government, before becoming citizens of the United States.
(2) The Department has conducted a review of the testing process used to ensure prospective United States citizens demonstrate said knowledge of the English language and United States history and Government for the purpose of redesigning said test.
There is nothing in "TITLE VI--WORK AUTHORIZATION AND LEGALIZATION OF UNDOCUMENTED INDIVIDUALS
Subtitle A--Temporary Guest Workers" requiring anyone to learn English unless they want to become a citizen. So a "lawful permanent resident" can stay forever in America without learning English as long as they don't apply for citizenship!

SEC. 601. ACCESS TO EARNED ADJUSTMENT AND MANDATORY DEPARTURE AND REENTRY.

(F) BASIC CITIZENSHIP SKILLS- (i) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in clause (ii), the alien shall demonstrate that the alien meets the requirements of section 312(a) (relating to English proficiency and understanding of United States history and Government). (ii) EXCEPTIONS-
(I) MANDATORY- The requirements of clause (i) shall not apply to any person who is unable to comply with those requirements because of a physical or developmental disability or mental impairment.
(II) DISCRETIONARY- The Secretary of Homeland Security may waive all or part of the requirements of clause (i) in the case of an alien who is 65 years of age or older as of the date of the filing of the application for adjustment of status.

Here's the double play...if they want to become citizens of the United States they have to do something. Under the guest worker program they don't have to learn SQUAT!
