Anti-War Activists Call For End To Annual Blue Angels' Air Show

SAN FRANCISCO -- Anti-war activists are calling on city officials to bring an end to the annual Fleet Week flyover by the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels.

CodePink, Global Exchange and Veterans for Peace are working with Supervisor Chris Daly on a resolution that calls for stopping the popular air show, a San Francisco tradition that began more than 25 years ago.

Daly said he may introduce a resolution as early as next week that calls for permanently halting the flyovers because "they seem dangerous and unnecessary." The resolution would state the Board of Supervisors' position, but would not be legally binding.

The Blue Angels, a team of navy fighter pilots, perform high-speed maneuvers over San Francisco during Fleet Week, which is scheduled for October this year.

CodePink has launched an online petition, signed by more than 500 people to date, calling on city officials to stop the air show for reasons of public safety, air pollution and fuel waste.

It seems these groups have decided that there are still people out there who don’t think they’re completely insane. If that’s the case, this is definitely the way to change their minds.

Instead of a flyover, how about a napalm drop?

I'd say that everytime one of these Code Pink ladies opens her big mouth is a risk to public safey and causes air pollution and fuel waste!

This is just SO wrong in so many ways. The article even says the air show is popular. Proof the lefties want us all to bend to their idea of what is right.

They are idiots. No matter what they may like, Americans LOVE their military... and it’s cool equipment. I bet a live fire tank exhibition would be mobbed with people.

Gee, this makes us all in the Bay Area look like a bunch of crazed, stuck-up, narcissistic, self-loathing fools. Hey, wait a minute....

If I get 500 people to sign an online petition, will KTUV write a story about it?

These fagoots and fairies really twist my shorts. How could any American's heart not swell in pride in seeing this magnificent display of American men and machines defending our country.

It’s a good idea. Let the places who do want them get more appearances.

Great pics Cobra! I’d like to add a few of them to my Blue Angels Power Pt. slide show.

The Blue Angels should perform a live fire exercise in San Francisco.
