Senate Agrees to Salazar Amendment
C-Span2 ^ | 6/6/07 | vanity

The U.S. Senate just voted to amend the objectionable immigration bill. The Salazar amdendment passed 58-39 and requires the government to provide "native language" documentation for Z-visa holders when they do things like apply for federal benefits.

If it becomes law, the bill will give Z-visas to millions of illegal immigrants making them legal. Under the Salazar amendment, they will have little incentive to learn English because they will be able to use their native language while doing business with the federal government.

This bill is not worth the paper on which it is written. Not one more vote! Not one more dime! Any Republican who does not filibuster the McCain-Kennedy shamnesty is derelict and must be removed at their next election. Down with McCain.

It's worse than you think. Salazar's amendment requires the federal government to undertake to "preserve and enhance the use of English as a language of the United States."

That's right. It says "a" language of the United States. Just one language among hundreds.

That's not a promotion. It's not even keeping the status quo. It's a demotion.

Yeah, he represents me....NOT!
I really like how he is a ‘native’ Coloradan and still has the Mex/Hinglish ‘accent’.

What are we going to have to do to that bunch of traitors to show them that we are NOT going to allow them to destroy America?

What will it take?

“This jerk thinks he was elected by mexicans instead of Colorado citizens.”

The Democratic party elites have convinced themselves that charity on our dime to the non-white “other” is an act worthy of self-congratulation.

They have broken from the best interests of the American people of all colors.

They like adding the multi-culti feel good stuff,

makes them not think about how they are messing with us economically,

mainline liberal media is echoing back approval, they fell no fear.

The adoption of this amendment by the phony “moderate” Salazar is good news, as is any amendment that moves the bill even further to the left than it is. Makes it less hard to defeat.

INHO The U.S. Senate should be declared “Enemies Of The State” and brought up on charges of TREASON.

Plain and Simple.

there may have been some Republicans voting for it in order to kill the Bill.

This just might be the killer amendment we're looking for.

“brought up on charges of TREASON. Plain and simple.”
I share your anger, but I think we’re better off focusing on things that might actually happen. Like the defeat of the bill.

Inhofe’s amendment to make English the official and only language of the documents passed just after this by a 64-32 margin.

Does that make Salazar’s amendment moot?

I live in Colorado and have watched Salazar since Ben Nighthorse Campbell stepped down. IMHO, Salazar is THE Manchurian Candidate.

His loyalties lie with his bloodline, not his country.

The opposite is true. The Salazar amendment makes the Inhofe amendment moot. Senator Inhofe himself said so.

This bill is so bizarre. They just passed THIS amendment to require government to provide help in other languages, then they turn around an pass an “english as official language” amendment. It’s like they don’t really care about what is in the bill, just so long as they pass something.

They obviously intend to re-write this thing in conference, and then shove it down the throats of the republicans who already were snookered into voting for it and losing their own conservative base.
