Vanity- TEIR Pro-Amnesty Commercials

Posted on 06/05/2007 4:02:43 PM PDT by mnehring

Vanity- Has anyone noticed the huge rash of pro-amnesty commercials by the group Texas Employers for Immigration Reform (TEIR)? http://www.txeir.com/

They started this weekend and are almost every commercial break on every channel here. The latest basically says if you expect food in your fridge and houses to be built, you will support the immigration reform bill.

I’ve been seeing them on FNC all evening. They make me sick! They are implying that if we don’t allow amnesty there won’t be any workers.

Sure there are labor shortages when you don’t want to pay more than minimum wage. It seems they want the government to ‘fix’ the labor market for them, while we tax payers have to provide the families of their illegal alien employees with government benefits.

Screw them! We should all refuse to do business with any company that hires illegal aliens, or eventual “Z-Visa” employees.

the revenue for airing these commercials is quite possibly one of the reasons that media is ignoring the widespread outrage.....I use WOW cable, and have been seeing them PLENTY, as part of the channel/networks advertising and seems like WOW runs them independently as well

"Texas Association of Mexican-American Chambers of Commerce

WTF?"

I'll tell you WTF:

About 10 years ago a friend of mine started an FM Salsa music station here in Houston. The "Houston Mexican-American Chamber of Commerce" sued him because Salsa music was "contaminating" the Mexican culture. I knew some members of the Mex C of C. I used to see them all the time in.....the Salsa clubs here. How rich is that?

Hold on to your chair.

They won. He was required to reduce power output from 100% to 10%. The Mexican-American judge said that he couldn't abridge 1st amendments rights, otherwise, he would have shut down the station completely. As it was, 10% of power reached no one so my friend had to shut down the station anyway.

Now I see that this is a list of TEIR supporters via their website.

TEIR looks like the kind of list of high-dollar supporters of any Republican in Texas. Bob Perry for example underwrote the ‘Swift Vet’ group, and Lieninger is famous for supporting vouchers.

Give ‘em a freep, guys!

Here is what I said:

Enacting a full-scale legalization for 12 million illegal immigrants is not the path to ‘reform’, it is the path to more breakdown in the system. It is worse when it is done without first making sure the border is secure and immigration law is properly enforced. we invite further systematic failure with the current Senate bill that does just that, by having a massive legalization/amnesty with fake triggers that do not really guarantee anything. It failed in 1986 and it will fail now, only more massively.

You should know by now also that the Democrats are going to twist the immigration law to undermine the idea of guest workers and undermine shifting from chain migration to employment-based immigration. They have an agenda to import welfare-state voters, not workers.

The end result? You will NOT get what you want (a sane immigration law) , but the liberal Democrats will get what they want (a permanent voting majority), and it will include a voting majority for liberal high-tax socialist legislation in Texas. In 15 years, Texas will become what California already is - an anti-business ‘blue state’. The demographic shift in Cali (from 57% white voters to 43%) will be replicated in Texas.

As someone who works and lives with *legal* immigrants, I can tell you right now the ‘comprehensive’ Senate bill is a slap in the face to them. So who have you helped? Lawbreaking illegal immigrants and Democrats only, and certainly not yourself, not the citizens, not American workers.

You are selling your future and my kids future short. I urge you to reconsider your support for amnesty/legalization.
A push for more employment-oriented immigration including guest workers would be supported by many of us opposed strongly to amnesty.

“the revenue for airing these commercials is quite possibly one of the reasons that media is ignoring the widespread outrage.”

Nope, liberal bias is sufficient for them to be asleep on that .

This earlier article/thread show the relationship between TEIR and Texas Association of Business.

As mentioned on that thread, the Texas Association of Business bankrolled Tom Delay's efforts in Texas re-districting.

Done. Every Texas small business owner should file their displeasure with whichever organizations listed that they happen to belong to. Texas FReepers that live in the cities, whose chamber of commerce or other organization with an office open to the public, should go to there offices and give them a piece of your mind about their financial support of a commercial advocating endorsing illegal immigration.

Tell them, if you entered their members businesses without permission, would they be so accommodating of a trespasser? Would they give you cash/services for breaking into their place of business or residence?
