The People's Liberation Army (PLA) continues to build cyberwarfare units and develop viruses to attack enemy computer systems as part of its information-warfare strategy, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) warned in a report released on Friday.
"The PLA has established information warfare units to develop viruses to attack enemy computer systems and networks," the annual DOD report on China's military warned. At the same, Chinese armed forces are developing ways to protect its own systems from an enemy attack, it said, echoing similar warnings made in previous years.

They’ve definitely been taking some novel approaches to neutralizing our military advantages. Their reported development of micro-ASATs also has me concerned.
I would like to see how the PLA could be more destructive to Navy cyberspace than NMCI has been.
I also figured out that right now I have 12 separate usernames and passwords required for my Navy work. The most dorked up one is the Flight Weather Briefer which originally was supposed to allow remote access to aviation weather briefs, but now requires a CAC card reader and a 12-15 character password. UUUUGGGGGHHHHH!
I think it is interesting that DoD released this report on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, when they had to know it would get the least possible amount of coverage and attention.
EDS only thinks they own NMCI. The PLA have had the run of it almost since inception.
