They put off building the wall/fence last fall because they are using it as a bargaining chip to get a worker program. It doesn’t mean it will never be done.
Pathetic. You sound like the John Murtha of the border.
If you aren’t the traitor, Jorge Bush, you must be writing for him.
So if they get their guest worker program it will be done? Why? In 1986 they got their amnesty, and no ever enforced those laws. I don’t see why they would build this fence after getting this amnesty through. They have no motivation to do so.
This bill does not provide any sort of solution. At present, the illegals, are just that, illegal. If at some point in the future, if the government decides to get serious about enforcing the law, there are ramifications which can be applied to them and their employers. Passage of this bill removes that immediately. As for all of the provisions which will be applied to the Z visas, such as paying a fine, a biometric ID, touching back to the country of origin...none of that is going to happen. The illegals simply won’t do it, and the government won’t make them do it. After all, that would be enforcement.
Sure it does. In what century? Besides, that whole issue will be moot because they will all be legal.
It provides for a guest worker program that will allow illegals to come out of the shadows so we know who and where they are.
Enough with the Michael Chertoff drivel. Is someone paying you to smear this swill (he is not getting his money's worth.) BTW, did it ever occur to you to ask, "so when we "know who and where they are", what difference it will make?" After all, they will all be legal!
Ain't amnesty a beautiful thing? Solves the whole problem..
Yes they do..the numbers are getting to large for the nation as a whole to ignore.
This bill will not keep more from coming in. Whatever few measures it does have in it regarding closing the borders are meaningless. We have countless such measures now, and no one is doing anything about them. This would encourage MORE illeagls to come across. Why not? All you have to do is falsify some documents showing you were here as of 1/1/07, and you get the Z visa. And if the new illegals can’t bring themselves to do that, well, they will just wait around for the next round of amnesty in a few years. It’s not like someone is going to catch and deport them. The President says we can’t deport 12 million aliens, well then we certainly won’t try and deport 30 million.
Actually if the laws are enforced, then there would be no problem.
The lack of leadership, and the pro-illegal anti-American attitudes of the Bush Admin are the problems.
This amnesty bill is trash, and no amendment will fix it.
I really dont care what the ACLU, La Raza, or other racist “I hate America” groups think. Enforcement of the current law will remove most illegals....many going back on their own. As long as illegals know you are weak on enforcement....they continue to break the law
False. The proposed bill will open the doors for good and release an onslaught like we have yet to see. Try to grasp that all this is just smoke being blown up your a** by corrupt and cynical politicians who have no interest whatsoever in sealing the border. This bill will do what it is intended to do--mollify people like you while keeping the flow of peons robust. If anyone in Washington actually wanted to stanch the flow, they would have done it years ago. It's that simple.
That would be our fellow entrepreneurs to the south. There arses are looking more and more like a bullseye to me. If they want this compromise they had better put more teeth on that fence.
Here's the best I can find so far:
As a bonus you get Rino Arnold.
This “let the illegals come out of the shadows” is just liberal do-gooder nonsense. I wanna puke everytime I hear it
I can make illegals come out of the shadows my merely yelling “migra, migra, migra”.

The nation might be paying attention to that, but the politicians are not. They want to make the problem worse, I guess, because they don’t see it as a problem. They don’t have their property taxes double or triple because there are now 50% more kids in their schools. They don’t have to wait in line for 5 hours at the emergency room because Juan and his no-insurance family are there. They aren’t working for the same wages they were getting paid 10 years ago, because of the flood of cheap labor.
The politicians see votes (Democrats), and campaign cash (Republicans). If they saw it otherwise, they’d be building that fence, instead of ramming this stupid bill down our throats.
What you’re smoking? Gimme some of that.
They know the nation is looking post 9/11. They are paying very, very close attention...now.
Buzzard, the funny thing about this is that the politicians are giving the illegals a roadmap to legality and citizenship, and the illegals won’t take it! Do you think they will really stand in line for biometric ID’s or pay a $5,000 fine? Never. And then what are we going to do? Nothing! It’ll be back to ‘you can’t deport 12 million aliens, except it’ll be, ‘you can’t deport 20 million aliens’.
I am so sick of that canned line. If there were 5 illegal aliens, it would be “you can’t possibly deport 5 illegal aliens. I mean we can’t find Osama Bin Laden, how are we going to find 5 illegal aliens?”
