Russia has condemned 'Israel's excessive use of force' in attacks against Palestinians and the bombing of civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.
"Israel opens fire against residential areas in Palestinian towns, killing civilians, which is in our view excessive and disproportionate," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement.
Israeli air strikes on Gaza, which resumed last week for the first time in six months, have so far killed 23 Palestinians.
Israeli cabinet has also given the regime's military a green light to resume targeted assassination of Palestinian activists.
"Hamas acts as if it were a terrorist base rather than a government. In such circumstances, there is nothing to discuss. We hope Mahmoud Abbas will be able to get control, rein in Hamas, calm down the situation, and get back to negotiations," Anna Azari said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
While Israel favors a political resolution with the Palestinians, she said, "the Israeli government cannot, as any other government would not, show restraint in the face of such bombings and terrorist attacks."
Azari brushed off Russia's recent condemnation of "disproportionate" use of force by Israel in Gaza.
"I do not think there can be any discussion of what is proportionate and what is not if peaceful citizens are being killed. Israeli strikes are targeted at terrorist gangs and places where the Qassam rockets are produced. If their headquarters are located in densely populated areas, that is the terrorists' policy," she said.

They would have said the Palestinians probably poisoned themselves just to blame it on the Israelis.
Palestinians are ideologically quite similar to Nazi Germans. You would think that russians would be all for total war against anyone even close to being like nazis.
The Putin government is utterly corrupt, and a horrible influence worldwide.
Of course, their demolition of Chechnya was “proportionate.” I happen to like what they did there, because they were dealing with murderous islamic terrorists. But they should at least have some understanding and sympathy for Israel, which is in a more dangerous position.
It just goes to show: never, never, never trust the Russians.
The problem is Putin and his goons themselves are quite Hitlerian.

Israel should send Russia a curt note advising them to remember how they reduced entire cities to rubble in Chechnya not very long ago at all.
Maybe Putin & his KGB thugs will send flowers to the Moscow branch office of Hamas.
