The Lebanese government has authorized the army to "finish off" Islamic militants fighting Lebanese troops for the third straight day Tuesday in a refugee camp in the country's north.
The decision by the Cabinet of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora reflected the government's determination to pursue the Islamic militants who staged attacks on Lebanese troops on Sunday and Monday, killing 29 soldiers. Some 20 militants have also been killed, as well as an undetermined number of civilians.

Comment:
I wonder if this Prime minister Siniora might be available to take over in Iraq.
At least he is taking the fight to the enemy and not pussy footing around playing by the queens rules.

a highrise ‘refugee camp’ eh? looks like luxury condos to me.
Siniora’s army + Ethiopian army = victory in iraq.
Does this mean the army’s going to enter the camp/s?
I think you mean "Queensbury Rules". And yes, it's great to see Siniora getting all 'Ethiopian' on the terrorists!
Now there’s a mission with rules of engagement that soldiers can understand. Any questions? I didn’t think so.
It is not the "army". It is the ROE.
*I wonder if this Prime minister Siniora might be available to take over in Iraq.*
If the US make the proper request, we, lebanese, would be more than happy to lend you Mr. Siniora for an indefinite time.
It took him 48 hours of severe fighting following the operational deployment of a mechanized brigade since day 1 without his orders in the North to issue his directives.
But sshhh, he is conducting talks for a cease fire with the palis.

Instead of paying Pakistan billions of dollars for helping with TWOT, it would be my judgement, to hire these fighters from Lebanon to finish the job in Iraq!!!!
But sshhh, he is conducting talks for a cease fire with the palis.
Probably the fault of The Red Cross????? Now they wouldn’t want to change the rules of engagement would they?
Of all the human tribes on this Earth, I can think of none more filthy then the PLO. I hope to live long enough to see Israel wipe these greasy slime ball from the Earth.
The proposed cease fire at 1430 hours alpha time (one hour ago) aimed at evacuating civilian casualties and bringing in badly needed food and medecine for the 40,000 civilians held as hostages when Fatah al Islam broke it suddenly. Now the UNRWA is trying to send a moslem cleric to make it hold once again.
When we say Fatah al Islam, think Qaeda style fighting. Its head was an aid of Zarqawi.
(trying to catch up)
Has the ceasefire held?
Have the Lebanese gov/military fully entered the camp?
Thanks for any info!
1- The cease fire did not hold.
2- The Army already swept all the positions of Fatah al Islam outside the compact built up area of the camp, and is now firing on all the combat positions of Fatah al Islam on the outskirts of the inhabited area.
3- The government has yet to take the political decision to enter the camp. I doubt Mr. Siniora is up to that challenge.
Washington Supportive as Lebanese Troops Attack Suspected Terrorists

“The Lebanese military has been forbidden from entering the Palestinian refugee camp in its territory by a diplomatic agreement up to this point. However, Lebanon went through a bloody civil war in 1975 and the majority of Lebanese citizens blame the Palestinian presence for that conflict. The Lebanese troops were cheered on enthusiastically as they rode through the streets on Sunday.”

“Fatah al-Islam espouses the same extremism as al-Qaeda networks in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet in the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp in Lebanon, its tactical agenda has less to do with global jihadism than with Syrian aggrandisement. The 200-strong sect is led by Chaker al-Absi, a Palestinian militant trained by the Syrian Air Force who is thought to have been infiltrated into Lebanon six months ago for the express purprose of undermining the Siniora Government. The current upsurge in violence comes days after the latest UN Security Council debate on a Hariri tribunal; few regard the timing as coincidental.”
