Poet gives voice to VA Tech's grief (Nikki Giovanni's profane rants)
The (Albany, NY) Times Union ^ | April 20, 2007 | Marc Parry

ALBANY -- A renowned poet who taught the Virginia Tech killer found his presence so intimidating it felt like he was "controlling my classroom," the professor said in an interview.

. . .

The evening wasn't all solemn, though. Giovanni's often profane jokes about men, Jesus, and especially the Bush administration kept the crowd in stitches, though most of them can't be printed in a family newspaper.

And from this article:

But it wasn't what the celebrated poet said about the massacre that provoked one of the loudest reactions from her audience of University at Albany students Thursday.

What really got the crowd clapping was a jab Giovanni landed at one of her favorite punching bags: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Or, as the poet-turned-potty-mouth labeled the world's most powerful diplomat: "a crazy old bitch named Condoleezza Rice."

It's an odd thing for a 63-year-old to say about a 52-year-old. And it isn't the only thing Giovanni said. She also bashed Rice for "licking the boots of George Bush."

"It's disgraceful," she said.

The foul language is familiar stuff for a woman most associated lately with the moving words she spoke before more than 10,000 people at a Blacksburg convocation after the massacre.

The writer once crowned "the Princess of Black Poetry" recently flung the same five-letter word at Rice in Minnesota. In South Carolina, she made the same point about Rice as a black American who benefited from affirmative action and "then turns around and says we don't need affirmative action."

And she's told the same joke about how, when Rice approached the casket at Rosa Parks's memorial service in Montgomery, "the casket moved."

As Giovanni put it Thursday, "I could see Rosa inside just going, 'Not you, baby. Not you.' "

With teachers like this, it’s no wonder that Cho Seunghui turned into a vicious antisocial lunatic.

Nikki writes about as well as Maya Angelou.

What is Ms. Giovanni so upset about anyway? Why does she have to make such derogatory and insulting comments? Indeed, why is she teaching at a state funded university?

"It's disgraceful," she said.

It certainly is disgraceful, although Nikki and I would probably disagree about what it is.

Instead of anything not worth reading from this bag, I offer this one... author shall remain anonymous.

He Did

The great Israeli, the great Professor Liviu Librescu did,

Working one minute, knowing the next, he waited not, he did.

When a matter of hell was on them with shot and fire,

When the shooting started, the loathing, evil desire,

When the children of Virginia, freedom land screamed,

And were cruelly taken, the teacher quickly deemed,

Not in my class! You cannot have a single one for,

You must go through me and I am strong, vile hate!

Do you hear me now! Leave my place, take no more!

I spit in your face! Not one shall you add to your slate.

The professor did what none but the bravest, I bid,

And only the strongest, God-filled can do. He did.

Of those very few among us like he, the truly tall.

He taught them well then kicked that fearsome wall,

Was a shield, helping them flee man’s darkest fall.

He went down plainly knowing his life was o’er.

He is a hero. He is that but far, faraway more.

God bless the great professor. God forever bless him.

God bless his children, his wife… his life. I’chaim!

He’s surely with God now. He’s done with me and you.

Kaddish... Pray to God for a best man, the man Librescu.

This hag is only a “poet” to the most delusional moonbats..... from the examples of her “poetry” I have seen, I would say that most ordinary people can write better poems in high school — and would not imagine that they had any special poetic talent. This vicious charlatan advanced in her career for purely political reasons having nothing to do with the quality of her so-called “poetry”....

But they are quite alright to be institutionalized at a public school without rebuke.

“We are....Virginia Tech!”

Yes, and now we know what that REALLY means, don’t we?

She should be cited and condemned as a negative influence on the mass murderer’s life.

Not Quentin Tarantino who was unjustly blamed because there is violence in his films (the same sort which can be found in movies dating back to Arthur Penn’s Bonnie and Clyde which gave us the modern MPAA ratings system).

I imagine that the good professor was met at the Pearly Gates by a person who once shielded him from the NAZIS. I hope his students learn this lesson from this act of selflessness rarely seen in academia these days.

filthy racists like this black women are all the same no matter their pigmentation, why a university and a country allows such venom to be spewed to our children is a continuous mystery.
