Al Qaeda No. 2 Mocks Iraq Pullout Bill [Wants 200,000 to 300,000 Americans killed ]

Ayman al-Zawahiri Says Al Qaeda Wants to Spill More U.S. Blood Before America Leaves

In a new video posted today on the Internet, al Qaeda's number two man, Ayman al Zawahiri, mocks the bill passed by Congress setting a timetable for the pullout of U.S. troops in Iraq.

"This bill will deprive us of the opportunity to destroy the American forces which we have caught in a historic trap," Zawahiri says in answer to a question posed to him an interviewer.

Continuing in the same tone, Zawahiri says, "We ask Allah that they only get out of it after losing 200,000 to 300,000 killed, in order that we give the spillers of blood in Washington and Europe an unforgettable lesson."

Based on the references to the bill, the tape, produced by al Qaeda's propaganda arm, as-Sahab, appears to have been made after Congress passed the legislation last week but before President Bush vetoed in on Thursday.

According to Laura Mansfield, a counter terrorism analyst with Strategic Translations, an organization that monitors al Qaeda postings, the tape was posted on the Internet this morning and covers the usual range of Zawahri's topics including Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine.

There has been a flurry of audio and video releases featuring Zawahiri, although no new communication from Osama bin Laden since early 2006.

[I]f you yield to a threat, you do so in order to avoid war, and more often than not, you do not avoid war. For those before whom you have thus openly demeaned yourself by yielding, will not stop there, but will seek to extort further concessions, and the less they esteem you the more incensed will they become against you. On the other hand, you will find your supporters growing cooler towards you, since they will look upon you as weak or pusillanimous. But if, as soon as you become aware of your adversary’s intentions, you prepare to use force, even though your forces be inferior to his, he will begin to respect you, and, since those with which you were allied will now esteem you, they will be ready to help when you begin to arm, which they would never have done had you given up.

–Niccolo Machiavelli, Discourses Book II, Chapter 14.

YOUR ACTION REQUESTED BY SOME TROOPS IN IRAQ: Please spread the word about an appeal for redress that people in the military can sign to show support for the mission. They are having problems getting the word out:

If you haven't seen this yet: A campaign by active-duty troops asking Congress to drop plans for a withdrawal from Iraq. Lt. Jason Nichols, a 33-year-old naval projects officer who has been in Baghdad since mid-January, said the goal is to keep lawmakers focused on letting the military finish its mission in Iraq, and not prematurely declare failure

There needs there to be a “cost” for those Pashtuns living within the Pak border regions for continuing to provide directly (and even indirectly) shelter for AQ ( especially UBL & Zawahiri).

There is currently a higher price being paid by those who don't supporting giving them aide either directly / indirectly by AQ and Taliban.....

Long past time for this SOB to be put in the ground.....

As I've said, we need another 200,000 troops in Iraq. Probably a whole lot more than that. Every single square foot requires an American presense to stop the civil war -- so that the Iraqi parliament can create a government that works. (And, of course, fight Al Qaeda whenever they decide to show up in Iraq.)

The Iraq parliament still does not have enough members that actually show up so that there can be a quorum. For that reason, a working Iraq government cannot form. Now they want to take the summer off for a long vacation. This makes the US look like a fool. We police their streets while they vacation in Paris.

Iraqi's are dying for their country (and policing their own country) at levels much higher then anyone.

With that said, I'm in agreement that it is foolishness that their Gov't is going on vacation for two months. But, that is Gov't....and I would suggest they are further along in the process then we even thought (considering the length of time they feel entitled to take off so soon).

And, No, we don't need another 200,000 troops in Iraq. About 10-20% of that will suffice....

I agree that leaving would be insane. But at the same time, it doesn’t seem that the Iraqis are taking this very seriously. The Shiites seem to believe that we have put them in charge and they can go off to Paris now; the Sunnis are busy stoking their grievances, some of which are legitimate now that they have turned into the victims, and we didn’t support the secularists enough at the start to make them a realistic force. Our big hope would have been people who did not want to continue with the horrible Islamic model, but for some reason (mostly naivete and ignorance), we let the Islamists get control, enshrine Islam in their constitution, and now we are stuck with the results.

We could still do it, but it would mean a complete revision of our policy.

Iraqis are dying because Sunnis are killing Shiites and shiites are killing Sunnis. Iraqis are not dying for their country -- they are killing each other because they disagree in their religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, Al Qaeda crosses the borders killing our troops. Our troops are pinned down in the Green Zone, for the most part -- because we don't even trust the Iraqis we are trying to protect. The Iraqis believe in their hearts that it's okay to kill Americans -- since they are occupiers.

No, we don't need another 200,000 troops in Iraq. About 10-20% of that will suffice....

That will be about the size of our surge. I support the surge -- but all the generals will tell you that it is far to few to accomplish a victory -- especially when Iraq doesn't even have a government that lives inside of Iraq. Because Iraqis are killing each other, very few Members of Parliament are willing to show up. Half of them don't even live inside Iraq anymore. Parliament has voted on NOTHING this year because they don't have a quorum.

livius -- yes, this is most annoying. I don't even think Americans realize that our troops died so that Iraqis could vote to form a radical Islamic state, complete with sharia law.

The Iraq government has failed. It is not in the US interests for Iraq to be an Islamic state. I think, as long as we are there, we should topple the government again -- just like we did in 2003 -- and start over. It is the least we can do for all who have died to turn Iraq into a Democracy and an ally. Right now, we have neither.

The only way al Qaeda is going to manage to kill 300,000 Americans is if they get their hands on nukes.

And the only way we’re going to prevent them from getting nukes is by keeping US forces on the border of Iran.

At the current rate of U.S. military deaths, it will take 1200 years to reach the number that Zawahiri is shooting for.

Regarding the 300,000 figure -- that's just Al Qaeda taunting the US (public).

Regarding Al Qaeda getting nukes, Pakistan is the most likely (and sympathetic) source. Iran can't produce them -- they're forced to buy them from the Russians.

Besides if Iran did have them, they would give them to Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda is Sunni and they would blow Iran (Shiites) away.

Amazing how alike Al Qeda leadership, the Mullahs in Iran and the Democrat Leadership of the Do Nothing Congress sound.

Dont forget our media. I posted the below in response to another story, but it kinda pertains here too.

After reading this story (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1828496/posts), I forwarded the below to 25 media emails across the US:
Hey media,

The article am forwarding to you says that 17,000 murders are committed in the US a year. I think America is lost. I think Scary Reid and Nancy Peloser should come up with a plan to get us out of here. We need to pull out of the USA. I want a damn time line too.

Iraq is a war zone and in four years, we have lost over 3,300 Troops. Well, if we average 17,000 murders in the States every year, that means that we have lost more people in four years then we did in Vietnam. In four years of WWII, we lost over 400,000. That is nearly a half a million in the same amount of time that we have been in Iraq. On Iwo Jima we averaged a thousand losses a day for 21 straight days. We are in our fourth year in Iraq and our third day on Iwo, and our media would have us believe that we need to pull out because we lost the war.

You people are traitors. I don’t care how you cut it, you are seditious at best. If you don’t like being called a traitor, then don’t give me a reason to do so, traitors. I am damn proud of the great job our Troops have done. I know they face a tough job and they are doing great at it. I will not swallow your Horse Hockey. Yes, things can improve, they always can, but our Troops have performed stellar and you won’t credit them.

If you in the media think things are that bad in Iraq, I would suggest you go over there, pick up a weapon, and stand a post. If you wish to continue spewing treasonous spew in the future, you should want to protect it by standing a post. Well, you shouldn’t have to because things ARE NOT THAT BAD We have been in the heart of the ME. This is a place that hates my guts and burns my flag. We have lost 3,300 troops in four years and things are so bad we should pull out? I find this as a damn good job. In just two years of Korea over 52,000 Troops fell. Do you realize that things could be a hell of a lot worse? Do you realize that our Troops have done an outstanding job? Do you recognize this? No you don’t. You all hate America and you must spew your spew to do your part to bring her down.

I am here to tell you that our Troops have done an outstanding job. This media needs to stop taking that away from those who bleed, sweat, cry, fight, and pray for a better world.

Don’t you think our Troops deserve better media coverage then this hack job you people are performing today?

Read this story and tell me if you think you are worthy or just a bunch of commie traitor media hacks:

There is no civil war. There is an Iranian-sponsored terrorist insurgency against the coalition and the Iraqi government. The alliance between Shiite Hezbollah and Sunni al Qaeda has been well documented over the last decade. It should be no surprise to anyone that that alliance continues in the face of a common enemy like The Great Satan.

Put it this way. In the two years since the Samarra bombing ignited this so-called “sectarian civil war”, how many Sunni attacks have there been on Mahdi Army headquarters or supply houses in Sadr City? How many Sunni attempts on al Sadr’s life have there been? How many Shiite attacks on al Qaeda positions have there been? In other words, when has either side done anything but carry out sneak attacks against large groups of unsuspecting civilians?

That ain’t civil war. That’s good old fashioned terrorism. The idea of a sectarian civil war is an American media-made myth. That’s why over 60% of the Iraqis polled last month said there wasn’t one.

BREAKING: Zawahiri comments on timetable for Iraq withdrawal

http://www.lauramansfield.com/j/

Excerpt from soon to be released Zawahiri tape:

Interviewer: The American Congress recently passed a bill which ties the funding of American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan to a timetable for the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq which ends next March. What is your comment on this resolution?

Zawahiri: This bill reflects American failure and frustration. However, this bill will deprive us of the opportunity to destroy the American forces which we have caught in a historic trap. We ask Allah that they only get out of it after losing two hundred to three hundred thousand killed, in order that we give the spillers of blood in Washington and Europe an unforgettable lesson which will motivate them to review their entire doctrinal and moral system which produced their historic criminal Crusader/Zionist entity.

Later in the tape, he goes on to say:

Thus, I warn everyone who has helped the Crusade against Iraq and Afghanistan that the Crusaders are departing – by their own admission – and soon, with Allah’s permission, so let him ponder his fate and future.

Please check back - we will post this video as soon as it becomes available.

The radical loser (Long Read)
Der Spiegel ^ | 1/12/05 | Hans Magnus Enzensberger
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1694568/posts

(snip)

Contrary to what the West appears to believe, the destructive energy of Islamist actions is directed mainly against Muslims. This is not a tactical error, not a case of “collateral damage”. In Algeria alone, Islamist terror has cost the lives of at least 50,000 fellow Algerians. Other sources speak of as many as 150,000 murders, although the military and the secret services were also involved. In Iraq and Afghanistan, too, the number of Muslim victims far outstrips the death toll among foreigners. Furthermore, terrorism has been highly detrimental not only to the image of Islam but also to the living conditions of Muslims around the world.

The Islamists are as unconcerned about this as the Nazis were about the downfall of Germany. As the avant-garde of death, they have no regard for the lives of their fellow believers. In the eyes of the Islamists, the fact that most Muslims have no desire to blow themselves and others sky high only goes to show that they deserve no better than to be liquidated themselves. After all, the aim of the radical loser is to make as many other people into losers as possible. As the Islamists see it, the fact that they are in the minority can only be because they are the chosen few.

(snip)

Meanwhile the coward hides in some cave or some safely guarded village. But alas. They have a long term agenda. And in order to succeed they need the likes of this clown, or so they believe.

For more on him I’d (highly) recommend Lawerence Wrights The Looming Tower”
