PHOENIX - A Border Patrol agent was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the shooting of an illegal immigrant at the border in January.
An investigation found that Agent Nicholas Corbett's killing of Francisco Dominguez-Rivera, of Puebla, Mexico, was not legally justified, said Cochise County prosecutor Ed Rheinheimer.
Corbett is also charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and negligent homicide.
Corbett's attorney, Daniel Santander, didn't immediately return a message left Monday afternoon by The Associated Press.
The shooting, which drew condemnation from the Mexican government, occurred while Corbett was trying to apprehend Dominguez-Rivera and three others who were trying to enter the country illegally.

The government is doing their best to intimidate the U.S. border patrol.

The correct procedure:
Pardon
Reinstate
Promote ahead of peers
...and for extra yumminess, fire the next higher in the chain of command who assisted in the arrest and prosecution, and put this hero in his place.

Well, what are they supposed to do? Ask them nicely if they could please not enter our country illegally as it causes problems? Jeez, the government should have the same rights to protect its properties as private citizens do.

Why would anybody want to belong to this organization? Betrayed by your leadership, forsaken by your government
why would you even try to do your job, just go through the motions and retire after 20 years.

If our brave Border Agents are not allowed to kill - why do they have guns? Shouldn’t we just arm them with wet noodles or something? What has happened to my America???

The worst job in the world. Trying to stop illegal border crossers while your Commander in Chief is waving them in.

The sorry bast*rds! Did someone surrender to Mexico when I wasn't looking? It sure seems like they are running America these days. I'm so sick of America's first Mexican President, George W. Bush. I wish he would resign. I'm sorry I ever voted for him. Twice! My uncles didn't die fighting for America just to turn it over to Mexico!!

I love our President and there are few things I disagree with him on, however, his handling of the US border crisis is one of them.

There’s a problem here and clear thinking people better start demanding the government cut the bullshit once and for all and come up with some real answers. We put law enforcement on our border for a specific purpose and then the government un-officially tells illegals to keep crossing the border it’s ok with them. Then when a situation like this one happens the Border Agent goes to prison, maybe for life.If I was a Border Agent I’d run as far and as fast as I could when I saw illegals crossing the border because no question these guys are in a lose-lose situation !!!

I agree with you. What is the problem here? Isn’t it odd they can arrest, charge, indict and put in jail these border agents; but we have all of this crime from the illegals. Makes sense doesn’t it? Not
To: NormsRevenge
This is crazy, the decision to prosecute is based on a video from a camera
TWO MILES AWAY and since the DA can't see the agent being threatened with a rock they decide to file charges.
What the hell is going on that we are sending people to protect the border and when they do we send them to prison??? This has got to stop. If they want to impeach Bush, this is the reason to do it.
To: NormsRevenge
Why is Bush providing protection of UNLAWFUL criminal immigrants who try to enter the USofA via Mexico by prosecuting Border Agents who are doing their jobs?
Why is he touting an Amnesty Bill that will provide more Border Agents if he's going to allow Border Agents to be prosecuted for doing their jobs?
SHOOT TO KILL AND WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE, BUT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BREAK A LAW TO ENTER THE USofA!
There is a lawful way and an unlawful way to enter the USofA. You choose the unlawful way and you become a TARGET. You choose the lawful way and you become a green card holder.
Take your pick and live with the consequences!
