Danny Dietz was a Navy SEAL. A hero, killed in action in service to his country in Afghanistan in 2005, at the age of 25. For his bravery under fire he was posthumously awarded the Navy's second highest commendation, the Navy Cross. A statue has been commissioned to honor Danny by the city of Littleton. It will be unveiled and dedicated on July Fourth in a ceremony at a memorial in a Littleton park near Goddard Middle School where Danny first dreamed of becoming a Navy SEAL. The bronze sculpture, fashioned by Robert Henderson, is modeled after a photo of Danny taken just before his death. It shows him in a crouching position, wearing a combat pack and with his assault weapon facing toward the ground, across his knee in a position of "parade rest."
