It turned out that it wasn’t convenient to suspend him until starting next week, because they had their schedule filled for this week. Apparently, it is a perfunctory suspension.
My question is, if it was necessary on the merits of the case, why didn’t they do that immediately, starting last week when he did it? Maybe it wasn’t really due to the horribleness of what he said so much as the wrath of “The Reverends” that NBC couldn’t weather.
I heard that he is supposed to be doing an already-planned radiothon for 3 days this week. Like him or not...and I don’t...he can raise a lot of money for SIDS or some hospital in New Jersey or his ranch. I think that that’s why he’s not suspended instantly.
I’m sure NBC had an investigation first and that is why Imus didn’t get suspended the day after the comment.
