LETS say a word about the girls.
For all their grit, hard work and courage, the Rutgers girls got branded nappy-headed hos a shockingly concise sexual and racial insult, tossed out in a volley of male camaraderie by a group of amused, middle-aged white men. The joke as delivered and later recanted by the radio and television personality Don Imus failed one big test: it was not funny. The serial apologies of Mr. Imus, who was suspended yesterday by both NBC News and CBS Radio for his remarks, have failed another test. The sincerity seems forced and suspect because hes done some version of this several times before. I know, because he apparently did it to me. I was covering the White House for this newspaper in 1993, when Mr. Imuss producer began calling to invite me on his radio program. I didnt return his calls. I had my hands plenty full covering Bill Clinton. Soon enough, the phone calls stopped. Then quizzical colleagues began asking me why Don Imus seemed to have a problem with me. I had no idea what they were talking about because I never listened to the program. It was not until five years later, when Mr. Imus and I were both working under the NBC News umbrella his show was being simulcast on MSNBC; I was a Capitol Hill correspondent for the network that I discovered why people were asking those questions. It took Lars-Erik Nelson, a columnist for The New York Daily News, to finally explain what no one else had wanted to repeat. Isnt The Times wonderful, Mr. Nelson quoted Mr. Imus as saying on the radio. It lets the cleaning lady cover the White House.

He sure did, which demonstrates that old saying about a broken clock being right twice a day. Gwen baby writes with all the insight and skill of a cleaning lady.
(with apologies to the REAL cleaning ladies who could clean Gwen’s clock)
LOL...that IS funny.
How come he’s on this morning? He suspended, but not until when?
They all come out to kick the dog while it is down. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. After his Rumsfeld comment, I can care less. This is isn’t a PC hit. This is a neutering.
It beguns Monday for some reason.
The whole foundation of this country revolves around OFFENDING others without retribution!!! What Imus says maybe rude, but I'm sticking to the tagline!
Black men, especially rap "artists" have been calling black women b1tches and hos for over ten years (where did you think the term came from?)....one stupid white man utters a negative about some women ball players and we are suddenly horrifed? This is BS.
Where is the outrage regarding rappers calling women worse than that? Where is the outrage over rich white men making a profit off of black rappers?
It turned out that it wasn’t convenient to suspend him until starting next week, because they had their schedule filled for this week. Apparently, it is a perfunctory suspension.
My question is, if it was necessary on the merits of the case, why didn’t they do that immediately, starting last week when he did it? Maybe it wasn’t really due to the horribleness of what he said so much as the wrath of “The Reverends” that NBC couldn’t weather.
I had my hands plenty full covering Bill Clinton.
Umm, I won’t even go there.
Although I don’t ever watch them, I read that last year, or maybe the year before, some stupid song “Its hard out here for a pimp” won an oscar. It was in 06 for a matter of fact. Google it up and read the words. The academy granted the oscar to a song that uses the “bitches” and “hos” throughout. This is what Hollywood put up as the best song of the year. Where was the outrage with them?
Jesse Jackson, referes to New York City as Himay town
Rappers use the "n" word and not only refer to black women as bitches an dwhores ( ho's) they make small MOVIES and large fortunes about it that resemble porn on B.E.T.
Imus was wrong. He's crude and he's crass. But its over.
If Imus has one once of intelligence left he will stop apologizing and tell them all he's done.Enough.
That pretty much sums up this whole affair.
The people that have a legitimate argument with scumbag Imus are the women on that basketball team. Maybe Gwen should pose the bigger question... like why do Democrats and RINO's religiously go on his show?
Send flowers to their btches and ho's... -Leslie Nielsen, Scary Movie III
Imus fell out of the "middle-aged" category about 15 years ago. He's an old man that can retire and should. The only thing he has going for him is that middle-aged people find him entertaining just like Grandpa on Heehaw. If he has to stay in the media spot light, he should take a position as someone's sidekick.
Imus is not the first shock-jock to get a suspension for making a racial slur on the radio, and two weeks is a slap on the wrists. Back in the 1990's, Grease Man in Washington, DC was suspended for at least 6 weeks for making a racial slur of his own in regards to MLK day. A few years latter he was fired for making another racial slur. The big difference between Imus and Grease Man was Grease Man was really funny without making racial slurs.
