15 safe in Iran ... 4 dead in Iraq

IRAN’S sickening hypocrisy was exposed yesterday as they sent home 15 British hostages — and connived in the slaughter of four of our soldiers.

The Brits, including a female Army nurse and a woman from the Intelligence Corps, died in a roadside bomb blast in Basra, southern Iraq.

Their Kuwaiti translator was also killed and a fifth soldier was critically injured in the attack.

Iraqi insurgents who set off the bomb had almost certainly been helped by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s fanatical Revolutionary Guards.

The enormous blast tore through the passenger compartment of a Warrior armoured personnel carrier. Bullets and rocket-propelled grenades then ripped into the British convoy.

Only a “shaped charge” device could have penetrated the vehicle’s armour.

Iran has been supplying rebels with expertise and technology for such attacks.

It is also thought the attackers buried artillery shells under the road and set them off, flipping the 30-ton Warrior over and leaving a 3ft-deep crater.

It brought the death toll among British military personnel to seven in five days and was the biggest single death toll in two years.

The convoy was returning from arresting a corrupt Iraqi policeman. In sickening scenes, locals brandished dead soldiers’ possessions, including battered helmets.

The dead nurse was from Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. One of the male soldiers killed was from the Royal Army Medical Corps, the other from the 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.

Thirty British soldiers are thought to have died in southern Iraq due to Iranian technology and training camps. Speaking at the moment the 15 freed sailors and Royal Marines touched down at Heathrow, Mr Blair called the Basra attack the “sober and ugly reality”.

He said: “As we rejoice at the return of our 15 personnel, we grieve for the loss of our soldiers, killed as a result of a terrorist act. Elements of the Iranian regime are backing, financing, and arming terrorism in Iraq.”

Tory MP and former Army CO Patrick Mercer said: “This is the real face of Iran.”

Ahmanutjob is rubbing salt in British wounds...and enjoying it. We’ll see if Britain has any fight left in her after this.

There is no way you can dig a hole in the street big enouh to hide one of these things without being seen. Without theneighbors knowing it is there. The refusal of those who willfully observe these things being buried and yet refuse to warn of an attack makes them as guilty as the people who bury them . Anyone killed at the site of such an attack should be considered an insurgent.
