I should rephrase that message from Putin, because this crisis has been serious for a long time. Putin is telling them that now it’s getting very, very serious and Iran can expect force to be used against them if they don’t halt uranium enrichment.

Of course it won’t happen on Good Friday, it’ll be Easter Monday, DUH! Everyone knows that this was just a decoy to get the Iranians all hyped up. Didn’t you get the memo? Jeesh, we need to overhaul our distribution system.

“April 6 Sneak Attack By US Forces On Iran Planned”

Some sneak attack. This has been all over the media and the net for days, including a number of postings here at FR. By now, every jihadi and moonbat on the planet knows about it. The more credulous ones will be excreting bricks all week over it, which may be the whole objective.

Nothing will happen this month, but it seems likely that this is a message from Putin to the Iranians.

I think the World in general is getting tired of the inflammatory rhetoric from Iran and the latest provocation of taking the Brits as hostages has pretty much topped it off. The only restraint I see right now is the impact an exchange with Iran would have on world oil prices. We may have to pay heavily forawhile. But stability in the region would drop the bottom out of oil prices.
A footnote to that is that Iran has been reaping a windfall on higher oil prices because they are intentionally destabilizing the mid east. Drop the ball on Iran and it will drop the price of oil.

I don’t think Iran could disrupt shipping in the Persian Gulf for very long with military force...a few weeks at most. US, British, and other NATO Naval forces would wipe them out rather quickly. That would spike oil prices up but as soon as normal shipping resumed prices would collapse. Then long-term prices would depend on the stability of Iran itself and the level of oil production within Iran. A coup d’etat and a government takeover by moderate elements, followed by a shutdown of Iran’s nuclear weapons program, would probably knock oil prices down into the $50-60 range even during Summer and lower during the Fall.

A new U.S. carrier battle group has been dispatched to the Gulf. The USS John C. Stennis, with a crew of 3,200 and around 80 fixed-wing aircraft, including F/A-18 Hornet and Superhornet fighter-bombers, eight support ships and four nuclear submarines are heading for the Gulf, where a similar group led by the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower has been deployed since December 2006. The U.S. is also sending Patriot anti-missile systems to the region.

Nothing really. But we do have the ‘Rods from God’.

Sounds to me like maybe the Russians have something planned.

How can it be a U.S. sneak attack when the big mouth Ruskies know about it.

The long awaited US military attack on Iran is now on track for the first week of April, specifically for 4 AM on April 6, the Good Friday opening of Easter weekend...

How can it be a sneak attack if they're giving the specific time and date?

The US attack plan reportedly calls for the Iranian air defense system to be degraded, for numerous Iranian warships to be sunk in the Persian Gulf, and the for the most important headquarters of the Iranian armed forces to be wiped out.

I've thought the way to go for regime change in Iran is to appeal to patriotic members of the Iranian Armed Forces. Make a deal with some of the Generals, who would provide a coup and then security for Iranians after the US wipes out the Mullah government, the Revolutionary Guards, the Basiji militia and the Mullahs Intelligence services. Attack the regime and the violent supporters of the regime to free the Iranian people.

The alternative to to attack Iran without regime change, think Bill Clinton's bombing of Saddam's Iraq in '98. We still had to go in and take on Saddam later.

Regime change or bust.

Oh, it would be nice to take on Iranian proxies at the same time: Syria, Hezbollah, HAMAS and Muqtie's Sadr militia in Iraq. This has to happen at some point. Why wait?
