Scandal: Last we heard of Sandy Berger, Bill Clinton's national security adviser, he was being fined and placed on probation for stealing top-secret documents. Is there more to this tale of purloined papers?

Rep. Tom Davis thinks there is. "I'm not convinced that he was acting alone," the Virginia Republican said on the Fox News special "Socks, Scissors, Paper: The Sandy Berger Caper" that aired Saturday night.

There is no doubt in my mind that he was working for Bill Clinton.

Its a farce what punishment they gave him.

There is so much wrong with this whole episode! (I do kinda laugh when I think of Mr. Important Berger alone at night searching a construction site to find the stuff he hid, though.)

Of course we will NEVER be told the whole story. Some people are just more "equal" than others, and most of them are either politicians or bureaucrats.

Leona Helmsley, the Queen of Mean, is remembered for the
quote, “Taxes are for little people”.

So too, the Democrats believe that sentences for legal
violations are for Republicans and little people too....JJ61

On Apr 17th every GOP Senator on the panel that will be interrogating the AG over some B.S. witch hunt about attorneys should ask him specifically about Sandy Berger. Obviously the press will be covering this charade in ernest so it would be good to hear why the AG and his office did not prosecute more thoroughly the Berger caper which by the way is the Crime of the Century.

I am sorry. Boo Tom Davis. Where was he when Berger was caught. Why raise it now after the GOP lost power? GWB or the GOP Congress should have come down on Berger like a ton of bricks. Americans understand stealing and classified docs. Bergers situation was unexplainable other than stealing and then the question becomes why? GOP missed their opportunity to get Berger and nullify Dem attempts to take back Congress in 2006. Now they raise the issue. A bit tooooo late for the public to chew on.

Lets put this one in context shall we.

Lets assume next week that the Congress enacts a commission to find out if pre-war intel was hyped and to find out why the Pentagon failed to forsee the insurgency in Iraq in the early days of the war.

After the commission meets and concludes that there was no intel hype or no way to have known about the insurgency in effect exonorating Bush with their findings of no one is guilty of anything.

Then we find out that members of the National Archives reported that during the meeting of said commission Condoleeza Rice was seen going to the National Archives and stealing documents and destroying them.

Of course the Democrats and the media would simply listen to Cheney and Bush explain it away as that sloppy Condi. Of course the Democrats would simply allow her to pay some simple fine and some community service and the media may have a small print story on the editorial pages....

What has happened to our GOP Leadership?

Naaa. Can't do that. It would be the smart thing to do. You know... upholding the rule of law. Those pesky matters that few seem to care about anymore.

We're more concerned about captured terrorists being able to face Mecca when they sh!t than law enforcement.

Far and few between. These clowns should be on an incentive salary. Start at $30k a year and incent each one that signs his name in cutting spending. The guy that pens a bill that is passed in doing away with an entitlement program, gets a $20m bonus.

Yes Fee, it should have been dealt with much sooner than
now. However, consider some of the following:

How quietly and low keyed the DoJ played this entire matter.
This at a time when the libs and the media where hammering
the GOP over prewar intel.

Of course the MSM had no interest in pursuing this story
because of it’s negative impact on Bubba.

The DoJ had a fortunate date for announcing Berger’s
penalty; April 1st, 2005. Terri Shiavo had died the day
before and The Pope died on the following day. A perfect
news cover canopy. The story was lost in the sauce.

The congressional examination into the case has just
concluded within the last few months I believe.
DoJ’s failure to go forth with its’ own settlement to
impose a polygraph on Berger is reason enough to bring
the entire situation into question. Two years and no
lie detector test. You or I would not get away with it.

I agree where were Davis and the Repubs when they had the majority? Why was this NOT the subject of a congressional hearing? I can’t imagine that even the dems would have tried to cover for Berger. That being said, wouldn’t it be pointless now to ask Berger questions or get a lie-detector test? Couldn’t he claim double jeopardy since he’s already been so severely “punished” for his crime?

Male children become men when their testes come down, What happens to Republican men is they get elected and their testes go back up.

The Clintons thought they had the cover-up suitcased with Sandy Burglar as the star witness and Jamie "The Wall" Gorelick on the 9/11 commission itself.

Too bad Sandy was as incompetant a thief as he was as National Security Advisor.

The good news for the Clintons was that they could always count on the corrupt civil service employees at DoJ. They can outwit and slow-roll any of the Administrations "Christmas help" with ease.
