GLADWIN -- The 72-year-old Billings Township woman pulled the gun from a safe, aimed it at a knife-wielding bandit and pulled the trigger.
No bullets.

I'm glad no-one had to die for this woman to escape serious harm, but she had no to expect that this scum wasn't going to injure her or worse, especially after she pulled the trigger. I bet she won't make this mistake again.

When she pulled the trigger, both victim and burglar realized the weapon had no ammunition and a scuffle ensued, deputies said. The burglar wrestled the weapon away from the woman and helped himself to a stack of cash, mostly $50 and $100 bills, then fled through the kitchen, leaving the gun on the counter on his way out, authorities said.
Darwin must have been busy elsewhere.

Sounds like poor planning. What's the point of having a gun locked in a safe if it's not loaded? I wouldn't pull an unloaded gun on a criminal unless it had a bayonet on it.

I assume that since she is 72 it isn't likely that there are little kids around. Most likely she had never fired it and it belonged to a late husband. I hope she learns how to use the gun. The perp must have known about the cash in the safe. He'll be back.

She was gutsy though and not afraid to shoot.

Although, I DID have a dream last night that I actually got into a shooting situation over a car wreck, and when I pulled the trigger, nothing happened.
I woke up breathing heavily, and now I really have the urge to get back out to the range today.
