19 March 2007 | 18:08 | Source: Tanjug PRIŠTINA -- Albanian media in Kosovo report today the Wahhabis have been active in the province since the early 1990’s.

The reports claim that the radical Islamic sect has 30 religious schools in Kosovo, adding that their activity presents the Albanian community’s identity with “a serious challenge”.

The Wahhabis mainly work to religiously indoctrinate impoverished Albanians, Bosniaks, Egyptians and Ashkalis, according to the Priština-based media.

The sect, which refers to its members as “fighters of pure Islam”, impose their “exclusive teachings” during funerals, circumcision rituals and other religious gatherings, offering their version of Koran as an alternative to natural or social theories.

The reports point to Elvis Goga from Peć as “the chief mujahedin in Kosovo”, adding that the expansion of Wahhabism in the province has been aided by the foreign NGOs that still operate under the umbrella of the joint Saudi committee for assistance to Kosovo and Chechnya.

These organizations arrived in the province in the wake of the 1999 war and stayed on in the field, obeying the Saudi government’s position to “remain as long as they’re needed.”

And there was not a bad turnout for the funeral. Talovic's daddy complained about "the easy availablitiy of guns in the US" at the funeral. As some on FR have commented, the son appears to have been taken by an episode of "Sudden Jihad Syndrome"!

The irony here is how hard liberal and conservative Jewish intellectuals in the US worked to empower the Albanian Muslims.

I think everyone in the west erred, in fatal lack of understanding of the actual forces, political and philosophical forces, in contention throughout the breakup of Yugoslavia - focused, by the media as they were, exclusively on "ethnicity".

While Milosevic surely used Serb nationalism for his own purposes - brutal and dictatorial purposes many of them were - similarly pernicious forces escaped equal notice, equal scrutiny, equal depth of understanding behind their only identity given public attention, their ethnicity and that it was not Serb.

Thus, the public was misled to believe that only benign forces stood behind most of the non-serb ethnic political groupings; with both media and diplomats ignoring, failing to see and failing to understand that extremists who would be willing to be as brutal as Milosevic was portrayed stood to profit from his demise as well.

In Kosovo and Bosnia, those forces have been richly aided by Saudi money and Wahabi influence.

If Europe fitters the next few years ignoring what it already sowed in Kosovo and Bosnia, it will reap a new war in the Balkans that will far surpass the last one.

In all fairness, thre are some who are trying to turn that around -- like Julia Gorin, Jared Israel and Ted Belman, Nathan Pearlstein, Felix Quigley, etc. of IsraPundit -- but it's not happening fast enough.

I am sorry but I don't believe for a minute that the US State Department is just "misinformed". If it was just "misinformation", William Walker -- the guy who trained the KLA & who set up the phony "Racak Massacre", wouldn't be back in Kosovo for a new round of made-up excuses to kill more Serbs.

Serbs and Jews have always been the worst enemy of fascists and Islamists. What better way could you think of for destroying two groups people who you regard as "your enemy" than to pit them against each other?

I think that most Jews haven't yet realized that tearing off a piece of Serbia for Albanians is just the UN warm-up for tearing off a piece of Israel for Palestinians. By the time that they do, it will be too late because all of their natural allies will be gone and they will have empowered their enemies.
