Perfumes are displayed in alabaster vials found in 2003 and are made of olive oil, pine, coriander, laurel, bergamot, parsley and bitter almonds, ANSA said.

"bitter almonds"? Eau de Hillary?

Being olfactorily fixated like a blue tick hound, I have only the greatest respect for the scents of the gods.

A BIG Snarfffffff to the ancient art of perfumery. A sniff is as good as break.

I often wonder why Freud settled on anal and oral fixation stereotypes. Olfactory fixation is much more interesting, as any dog will tell you.

And many perfume technicians do earn their living by sniff alone, as do many wine and whiskey blenders.

A new pinglist, so if you're interested.....

pan-Europe pinglist.*
This pinglist covers a broad range of topics relating to Europe: culture, current events, politics, science, history, arts, etc.

Warning: This could be a high volume pinglist.

Note: This pinglist covers--but not as much--Eastern Europe. There is already a moderate volume pinglist for that region.

Ping if you see a pertinent thread.

*To get on or off this list, freepmail with the subjects Europe on or Europe off .
No message is necessary.

To get on or get off this pinglist, freepmail here, with the appropriate subject.

There is also a:
John 3:16 (New King James Version): "16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
This pinglist can terminate at any time, without notice.

Timeless.

With a distinctive odeur.

Sometimes even tasteful.

If someone would recreate this fragrance, especially in a replica of the original vial , I'd buy it, if only for the novelty value. I hope some capitalist sees the opportunity.

Of course perfume was big back then they didn’t have deodorant yet. I always wondered how people could stand each other before regular bathing and deodorant was invented, and washing machines and dryers and clean clothes every day. They must have reeked!
