In so doing he unnecessarily subjected numerous journalists to the ordeal of having to disclose confidential sources or face imprisonment. [snip]
Mr. Wilson's case has besmirched nearly everyone it touched. The former ambassador will be remembered as a blowhard. Mr. Cheney and Mr. Libby were overbearing in their zeal to rebut Mr. Wilson and careless in their handling of classified information. Mr. Libby's subsequent false statements were reprehensible. And Mr. Fitzgerald has shown again why handing a Washington political case to a federal special prosecutor is a prescription for excess.
Mr. Fitzgerald was, at least, right about one thing: The Wilson-Plame case, and Mr. Libby's conviction, tell us nothing about the war in Iraq.

What liars.
If the WP was a serious newspaper they would FIRE the reporters who helped instigate this crime against Libby, the VP, the President and our war effort.
This editorial is worthy of a barf alert, since they have destroyed a human beings life over a lie, and are now pretending they have nothing to do with it.

Exactly. The normally sanctimonious, government loving lefties are pissed that Fitzfong's zeal put their own Bob Woodward at risk.
They helped with his conviction and are wiping the blood from their hands, the WP got what they wanted, its over now.

I too am suprised but the WaPo has been pretty consistent with it's scorn for Wilson for a while now. They recognize that he lied and caused pain to a lot of people for his own benefit.
It would be nice if hey took a more aggressive role in debunking Wilson and the dems as they would take if they had an R after their names.
Positively shocked. I never thought I'd see the day where the WaPo got it right.
Guess they have second thoughts now that it appears an MSM reporter, Judith Miller, may do more jail time than Scooter in this whole ridiculous affair.
Imus read portions of this on his show this morning and his three guests all said that WaPo was wrong. Those three guests?...Fineman, Russert and Mathews. All three want Cheney so bad that they'll diss their own media to try to make it happen. Imus reiterated the fact that Wilson was an anti-Bush blowhard. That show is hard to watch but very enlightening.
I would have said something along the lines of self-serving liar, but 'blowhard' is still a pretty heavy smack-down from the ComPost.
