It's not the crime, but the coverup. Even in cases where no crime, as such, was committed. Some former president's sexual pecadillos come to mind.
Folks, listen closely: American justice is dead, and this proves it. The courts are no longer a place of honor and justice that can be trusted to make right choices. The courts are a tool of the tyrannical governing elite, useful for pursuing personal vendettas. That makes the court an institution that poses a threat to our freedoms. We should not forget that.
One more reason to do our best to see to it that there will never again be a 'Rat president in our lifetimes!
BTW, "Fitzy" already holds a high position in the Dept. of Justice, unfortunately. He is the US Attorney for the district that includes Chicago.
Exactly. There was no underlying crime until the investigation began. This is asinine.

Libby had already lied to the FBI before Fitz came on board. Did he have a time machine to go back and set these traps?
Since the President did in fact publicly demand that everyone in the Administration tell the truth to investigators, how can anyone claim he told them to lie?
Also, after Watergate any Republican official who lies to investigators is a certifiable idiot to begin with. A President or Vice President who did so or encouraged others to do so should leave office anyway on grounds of monumental stupidity.
This case is a dead end after these convictions. The euphoria in the MSM and among the 'rats will last for a shorter period of time than Woodstock.

Juror Explains Libby Verdict: They Felt He Was 'Fall Guy'

NEW YORK A spokesman for the jury that convicted "Scooter" Lewis of four counts today of perjury and obstruction of justice today in a federal courtroom told reporters immediately afterward that many felt sympathy for Libby and believed he was only the "fall guy."
Denis Collins said, "We asked ourselves, what is HE doing here? Where is Rove and all these other guys....He was the fall guy."
He said they believed that Vice President Cheney did "ask him to talk to reporters."
He said, "some jurors said at one point, 'We wish we weren't judging Libby...this sucks."
Asked about Vice President Cheney not testifying, he said, "Having Cheney testifying would have been interesting." And when the defense opened the trial by suggesting that Libby was scapegoated by the White House, "I thought we might get to see President Bush here."
He also said that they found Tim Russert of NBC "very credible" and the defense "badgering" Judy Miller may have hurt them as some jurors developed "sympathy" for her. Even though she admitted having a "bad memory," the fact that she had notes counted a lot in her favor, he said.

Collins: this wasn't about the war .. it was about Niger
and uranium .. this was not a question about: who could we punish for going to Iraq. We never allowed ourselves to go there and I'm not going to go there now.
Collins: It's not a question of whether I feel cheated .. I'm done .. my job is done. My first reaction is .. look .. he's been pilloried and put up there, we found him guilty, his kids .. I just don't think that way. (to whatever that question was).
The straw votes were on the counts were always in favor of conviction, but 7-4 .. on technicalities.

If these jurors had wanted me to tell me who they are are, I'd be delighted to tell you about them .. they're just wonderful people.
Any impressions of the lawyers
Part of me was just fascinated by the performances ... just as a spectator.
Fitz: straight ahead Wells -- kinda jumped around.
People on the jury felt they were both good .. no comments about either lawyer .. working with what they had
Fitz had a lot more to work with .. I thought Wells did well with what he had to work with.
I am registered Dem .. but if you live in the District, you can hardly vote (if you're not).

The confusion issues with Fitz's messy charges .. the overriding confusion it created with the jury: hopefully will be grounds for an appeal, as well as Fitz's really unethical .. and possibly illegal .. close.
I'm hoping Mary Matalin will be on tonight .. and I'm sure the defense fund needs boosting and financial help. Praying for Scooter and his family and for righteous justice to return to this country.

But the problem is a lot of what he is saying he's taking directly from the defense pitch. Denis noted that Wells called Libby the fall guy for the administration.
We all questioned that when Wells said it. The Libby defense was that the administration NEEDED a fall guy, and that Libby was that fall guy, and therefore the jury should let him off no matter what it seemed he did.
Denis is saying that this generated sympathy for Libby, but not enough to sway them to ignore what they saw as his lying.
I'm sure other things he is saying could be helpful on appeal, but the bit about wondering where Rove was came straight from the Well's defense.
Naturally. A clear and present threat to the republic.
