Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
New Thread ping .... sorry I'm late getting it up
I wonder what they'll cook up this month in the CONgre$$ional coven's cauldron? :-}

Probably A Wake for the deficit at Mo's , got to beat the crowd. ;-)
I can not stomach listening to these hearings about WR, but I am watching with the TV on Mute....but as I watch, it occurs to me, that we need not waste money and time with these hearings, if we would have the Appropriations committee just move IN TO BLDG 18 and allow the warriors to move into THEIR office spaces for a week......I dare say the pontificating idiots in the COngress would shut-up and stop cutting military funding and stop thinking PORK issues are more important than our warriors so fast, they would leave SKID marks!!
Amen
Good idea
Senate is open ... Dorgan up harping about Walter Reed
He is....and so he will be the big hero in the dem caucus!!
Okay...I may be crazy, and I am probably overreacting, as usual...but, I am watching Neil Cavuto...and he has Charles Grassley as a guest.
Grassley the used to be Chairman of the Finance Committee in the Senate.
Neil was asking him about the economy and the stock market doings last week and today...and Grassley said to a question from Neil, "I don't know, I don't understand how the stock market works".
I looked at my husband and asked him if that is what he said..he said yes.
Now, Grassley is the GOP head of FINANCE, and he doesn't know any more about the stock market than I do????
uh-oh
We need to start our own country. It's the only answer.
Seems Congress only knows how to spend money and knows nothing about how to make money
BTW .. can you remind me again why we declared our Independence with England ??
LOL
I just want you guys to know that I have been listening to John Gibson's radio show....and it seems his minions have been doing some overnight homework.
He totally picked apart Obama's speech yesterday...the timeline and everything that he said happened in his family could NOT have happened....LOL
Mo1....he just can't tell the truth.
I've said it before, one of the many reasons I moved from the left to the right is that I realized the left has and wants no connection to any truth or facts. Too inconvenient. I didn't want to be part of a party that had to lie to get its way.
you mean like the part where he said his grandfather was influence by the events at Selma??
Are any of you listening to the hearing on C-span 3 about the US Attorneys that were dismissed??
