A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Donkeys Search for Clues in
"Peace" Train Derailment

by JohnHuang2

In light of the idiotic Iraq "debate" in Congress, here are some winning Democrat slogans: Yes, America has only one commander-in-chief -- and 535 others. The sooner we pull out of Iraq, the sooner we can fight them . . . here. Like it or not, Bush is commander-in-chief, along with John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, Carl Levin, you name it. Murtha: Prolong the pleasure, try Slow-Bleed today. Harry Reid: If the filibuster lasts over 4 hours, talk to your doctor. Breck Girl: I voted to invade Iraq, and now I'm sorry, so elect me. Obama: Relax, I'm qualified -- I passed one bill in the Illinois legislature. Hillary: I voted to invade, it wasn't a mistake and I wouldn't do it again. Chris Dodd: Looking for leadership you can trust? Vote Dodd -- he nearly wasn't duped by George Bush.

Democrats had America surrender in Viet Nam. Democrats surrendered in Somalia. Clinton wanted to surrender in Haiti, but Jimmy Carter got there first. Having absolutely nothing to do with America's security, Darfur is one basket case Democrats would love to invade, more than likely so they can surrender there, too. Now Democrats can't wait to surrender in Iraq. They want to surrender so badly, it's hard just keeping track of all their new ingenious ideas on how to go about it.

Immediately after finally winning an election, the Democrats' first idea to get troops to flee Iraq was to send Pelosi and Murtha over there. (Murtha was there in hopes of getting bribed by a real Arab Sheik this time.) Then they came up with their cockamamie "nonbinding resolution" idea, wasting weeks trying to get Bush to surrender. They also thought they could see BushCheneyCo's war off by grabbing on to the Iraq Study Groupies' plan for surrender, which also went nowhere. Democrats were off to a blazing start.

Then, a couple of weeks back, John Murtha, the Democrats' leading treason advocate in the House, cooked up the idea of attaching so many strings to funding the troop surge, there would be no troop surge. By holding Bush's $100 billion war request hostage to ridiculous new "standards," Democrats could then (a) make believe they're just concerned about troop readiness (b) keep reinforcements from deploying and (c) cut off troops already in the war zone. It marked the first time Democrats wanted to rein in a federal program they say doesn't work.

Murtha's botched plan "to stop the [troop] surge" would not allow extension of tours beyond a year for troops already in Iraq; troops couldn't deploy unless a year had passed in between combat tours; troops would need to be "trained" in urban combat then sent overseas with the equipment they trained with; troops would then be sent to California for more tests to certify none of them happen to be the father of Anna Nicole's baby.

In response to Murtha's insane idea, Pelosi endorsed it. To keep it a secret, Murtha revealed it on the Internet, doing the rollout on some nut Web site, crowing (on video) that troops under his "slow-bleed" plan "won't be able to continue . . . won't be able to do the deployment . . . won't have the equipment," won't "have the training . . . won't be able to do the work." The Murtha plan died right there. It's shocking that you can't keep a secret on the Internet! And how hard it is to dupe people by telling them your exact plans. What was really shocking is that Murtha could put out a coherent sentence.

The Murtha plan is so dead, the New York Times noticed. GOP House leader John Boehner called on Pelosi to renounce Murtha's plan. Pelosi immediately surrendered. She says she's now changed her mind and doesn't support "tying war funding to strict training and readiness targets" (AP, 2/26) -- which surprised most people. Pelosi has a mind?

Now that they've failed repeatedly to force a surrender in Iraq, Democrats want to give it another go. Their new master battle plan is to stop letting the bribe-bys in the House (like Murtha) make them look like fools and instead let the Senate make them look like fools.

Their latest cut-and-run idea is to rally support in the Senate around a new resolution which would revisit the history of the last four years and then replace it with a new and improved "war authorization" that doesn't involve war but "training and support." The traitorcrats want to unvote their vote for the 2002 war authorization because they were 'duped' into voting for it by 'Dumbya.' (Dumbya also masterminded 9/11, the sick moron.)

They argue that since Saddam's now worm food and only hundreds of canisters of nerve and mustard gas were found in Iraq, the 2002 war authorization worked, so it's time to repeal it. But the actual resolution says this:

The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to:
(1) Defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and
(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq -- especially the one regarding who "outed" Valerie Plame (just kidding).

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin Combover said on Sunday that his new idea of repealing the 2002 authorization would set a 2008 deadline for some troops to get out, but he can't decide how many. Sen. Hairplugs of Delaware paused from looking in the mirror long enough to write an article Monday that made it look like the new surrender plan was his idea. It has virtually no chance of passing, which leads Democrats to conclude it's worth a shot.

While the Traitorcrats were busy being not the brightest people in the world, they blundered themselves into a corner. If they block funding to stroke the Code Pinksters, it's political suicide. If they let the surge go through and it works, it's political suicide. If they keep not getting the 60 votes for cloture, it's political suicide. If they keep passing House resolutions that go nowhere, it's political suicide. Their psychotic base will ax the wishy-washy wimps come '08. Already the Surrender Lobby A-listers are grouchy that Democrats bailed on comrade Murtha too soon. Nutcase Tom Matzzie of MoveOn.org said "we hired you to get out of Iraq -- now figure it out . . . there is a risk that without action, frustration boils over into anger." Antiwar lunatic Tom Andrews of MoveCongress.org said "the issue to me is, what is the state of the backbone of the Democratic Party? . . . Republicans are throwing touchdown passes on this because the Democrats aren't even on the field."

One disillusioned Pelosi supporter, also upset about the lack of action in Congress, said this: Democrats won in November "as a result of [voters'] opposition to Bush's policies in Iraq, but they are moving along with him on the same path towards a pit." That was al-Qaeda's No. 2 honcho, al-Zawahiri. When even Allah's warriors are disappointed with Democrats, you know they're seriously off-track.

Anyway, that's... My two cents

Reborn Identity

READ: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17

One of my favorite movies is The Bourne Identity. The main character, Jason Bourne, suffers from a severe amnesia that leaves him haunted, frustrated, and confused.

A lot of us live like Jason Bourne. Our stories are not as dramatic but the issues are the same: Who am I, and does anyone care? We run from relationship to relationship, social event to social event, job to job, or even church to church, trying to "find ourselves." And if we seek our sense of identity in our career, who will we be when we retire?

But there’s good news for "identity seekers." We can have a significant and secure identity in a relationship with Jesus.

Although God made us in His image (Gen. 1:27), sin ravaged our souls and denied us the joy of a relationship with our Creator. Our identity as His prized and precious creation was damaged—until Jesus Christ came on the scene to rescue us and reclaim His created ones for His own (see Rom. 5:12-19). When we trust Christ for salvation, we gain the privileged status of being "in Him." He takes all that is old and makes it new.

Once you realize that you are a new creation, your identity crisis will be over.

When we’re reborn—made new in Christ—
It should be plain for all to see
That God has changed us from within
And placed us in His family. —Sper

To resolve our identity crisis we must be identified with Christ.

Appreciate it. We all think that John does a great job on the essays. Aquamarine, Dutchess & I (mostly Dutchess) take turns graphically representing his words.

I wish he would be with us now & then during the day to chat with his readers!

Dolly, You are amazing! You have such energy. You are always working on "another project." I think you are Freeper's version of "unsinkable" Dolly.

Wish I had your talent, JH2. I'd fire off a few lines to our local McClatchy newspaper opin section on a regular basis. They seem more than eager to publish "hate-Bush" type messages vs. supporting the WOT.

Dolly, great job with the graphics selection. Adds another punch to the essay.
