READ: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
One of my favorite movies is The Bourne Identity. The main character, Jason Bourne, suffers from a severe amnesia that leaves him haunted, frustrated, and confused.
A lot of us live like Jason Bourne. Our stories are not as dramatic but the issues are the same: Who am I, and does anyone care? We run from relationship to relationship, social event to social event, job to job, or even church to church, trying to "find ourselves." And if we seek our sense of identity in our career, who will we be when we retire?
But theres good news for "identity seekers." We can have a significant and secure identity in a relationship with Jesus.
Although God made us in His image (Gen. 1:27), sin ravaged our souls and denied us the joy of a relationship with our Creator. Our identity as His prized and precious creation was damageduntil Jesus Christ came on the scene to rescue us and reclaim His created ones for His own (see Rom. 5:12-19). When we trust Christ for salvation, we gain the privileged status of being "in Him." He takes all that is old and makes it new.
Once you realize that you are a new creation, your identity crisis will be over.
Thanks for such a great rant!! Brightened my morning for sure :-).
I love reading your essays.
That is a great devotional Rus. Thanks.
How is Jul & her sis doing ? How are you doing?
Appreciate it. We all think that John does a great job on the essays. Aquamarine, Dutchess & I (mostly Dutchess) take turns graphically representing his words.
I wish he would be with us now & then during the day to chat with his readers!
Any of you Cinema enthusiasts? Let me know & I will put you on the ping List for the New Monthly Cinema Thread.
I didn't know that. Thanks all of you for everything you do to make these threads so much fun to read and spend time in.
Thanks for another great essay.
Dolly, You are amazing! You have such energy. You are always working on "another project." I think you are Freeper's version of "unsinkable" Dolly.
Good Morning Dolly and John.
What a great essay to come home to.
John your essay made my day.
Dolly thanks for posting it.
Nice post and Pledge ((Dolly)).
Good morning!
I've been fighting a bad headache since Tuesday night. I know I'll win eventually, just hoping it is soon.
Thank you Mayor.
Awesome as usual you two!
Wish I had your talent, JH2. I'd fire off a few lines to our local McClatchy newspaper opin section on a regular basis. They seem more than eager to publish "hate-Bush" type messages vs. supporting the WOT.
Dolly, great job with the graphics selection. Adds another punch to the essay.
Leave it to our Dolly to say it like it is!
Thanks Dolly :)
Thank you to the both of you!
I feel fortunate to be a part of this great thread and group, it always seems to ..."hit the spot" when you need it most!!
