US Congressman Ron Paul wows crowd of 150 in NH Saturday, February 24th, 2007 Pembroke, New Hampshire Saturday, February 24, 2007

US Congressman Dr. Ron Paul was still hearing applause as he walked out the door of a private home in Pembroke on Saturday evening after speaking to 150 supporters who donated over $14,000 to seed his bid for the presidency. Paul arrived at 9 PM and stayed to mingle with the adoring crowd until 11:30 PM as they drank coffee and dipped fruit from a large arrangement into a chocolate fountain.

While visiting New Hampshire on a presidential exploratory trip, he also appeared at the NH Liberty Forum in Concord, where he had been endorsed for the presidency on the Friday evening before by former Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik as he addressed 300 forum attendees.

Paul’s speech at the reception, which was recorded professionally by California filmmaker Bill Dumas, centered around the financial state of the country, the war in Iraq, and the limited roll of government, and was met with long bouts of applause by the standing-room only crowd.

Supporters believe that Paul’s message can unite fiscal conservatives, republicans, libertarians constitutionalists, and others who are disillusioned with the direction in which the country is headed, in the cause of less government and reasonable spending and on getting the country back on track with regard to foreign policy.

US Congressman Dr. Ron Paul has breakfast in NH Saturday, February 24th, 2007 February 24, 2007

The Coalition of NH Taxpayers, NH’s largest taxpayer advocacy and government watchdog group, likes to meet one-on-one with candidates and those exploring the possibility of becoming candidates and endeavors to introduce them to the people in the ‘grassroots’. Ed Naile is the Chairman and he had breakfast with US Congressman Dr. Ron Paul on Saturday morning. Dr. Paul was in NH appearing at the NH Liberty Forum in Concord where he gave the closing remarks in a one hour speech on Sunday the 25th and for which he received standing ovations.

Ed writes:

I had about an hour and a half breakfast with Texas Congressman Ron Paul at the Merrimack Diner in Manchester yesterday morning. Some old friends from past campaigns were there as well. About a dozen of us. No press.

Congressman Ron Paul is legendary among many libertarian-leaning Republican conservatives and libertarians in general. He is a living, breathing, elected example of what our Founding Fathers had in mind for limited government. From speaking with him I think he realizes that the march FORWARD to the time in our past when US citizens had so much more freedom is going to be long one.

He seems to agree with what I believe could be the starting point of that return to less government, and that there would be a financial crisis created by our dependence on foreign banks to float our economy. Many voters pay little attention to our dollar’s value. The ones that do pay close attention to Congressman Paul.

Later in the day he was shown a grand evening at a private residence with about 150 people attending. It was set up with the help of one of our CNHT Directors. You won’t see much in the press about it, but 150 is quite a large crowd for a Congressman this early in the campaign. Enough to make some of his issues part of the debate on the Republican side, I would say.

Here are some of his core principals:

- Rights belong to individuals, not groups. - Property should be owned by people, not government. - All voluntary associations should be permissible — economic and social. - The government’s monetary role is to maintain the integrity of the monetary unit, not participate in fraud. - Government exists to protect liberty, not to redistribute wealth or to grant special privileges. - The lives and actions of people are their own responsibility, not the government’s.

Congressman Ron Paul is also pro-life and pro-family. Note that is pro-life stand includes ending capital punishment and unnecessary war.

He is for returning to the gold standard.

100% tax fighter! He gets awards consistently from national groups for his anti-tax/big government votes.

Congressman Paul holds an anti-intervention view of foreign military involvement with a provision for hunting down and dealing with terrorists on an individual level.

He is not your average US Congressman by any standard, and a close look at his votes will always stir an interesting debate. ###

the limited roll of government

I like my government to come with unlimited rolls. And butter, too.

Worse than a cut and runner.

RuPaul PRETENDS to be a conservative, while betraying our troops, in vote after vote.

Rupaul's latest vote to abandon our troops is only latest foray into aiding and abedding muslim terrorists. He even joined in with those who betrayed the Marines in Lebanon, pressuring Reagan into retreat. He's been helping the terrorists for a long, long time.

RuPaul combines the worst traits of white shoe anti-semite Republicans and Pelosi "peace" democrats into one pathetic package.

Not a chance. Sorry but anyone this stupid on Iraq is not only wholly unqualified for the Presidency, he is mentally unfit for the office he currently holds.

He should try pulling his head out LONG enough to finally learn what Iraq is all about. It been explained to him often enough. Unfortunately like most dinosaurs, he is too stupid to evolve.

Why Iraq

One of the really infuriating things in modern politics is the level of disinformation, misinformation, demagoguery and out right lying going on about the mission in Iraq. Democrats have spent the last 3+ years lying about Iraq out of a political calculation. The assumption is that the natural isolationist mindset of the average American voter, linked to the inherent Anti Americanism (what is misnamed the "Anti War movement") of the more feverish Democrat activists (especially those running the US's National "News" media) would restore them to national political dominance. The truth is the Democrat Party Leadership has simply lacked the courage to speak truth to whiners. The truth is that even if Al Gore won the 2000 election and 09-11 still happened we would be doing the EXACT same things in Iraq we are doing now.

Based on the political situation in the region left over from the 1991 Gulf War plus the domestic political consensus built up in BOTH parties since 1991 as well as fundamental military strategic laws, there was NO viable strategic choice for the US but to take out Iraq after finishing the initial operations in Afghanistan.

To start with Saddam's Iraq was our most immediate threat. We could NOT commit significant military forces to another battle with Saddam hovering undefeated on our flank nor could we leave significant forces watching Saddam. The political containment of Iraq was breaking down. That what Oil for Food was all about. Oil for Food was an attempt by Iraq to break out of it's diplomatic isolation and slip the shackles the UN Sanctions put on it's military. There there was the US Strategic position to consider.

The War on Islamic Fascism is different sort of war. in facing this Asymmetrical threat, we have a hidden foe, spread out across a geographically diverse area, with covert sources of supply. Since we cannot go everywhere they hide out, in fact often cannot even locate them until the engage us, we need to draw them out of hiding into a kill zone.

Iraq is that kill zone. That is the true brilliance of the Iraq strategy. We draw the terrorists out of their world wide hiding places onto a battlefield they have to fight on for political reasons (The "Holy" soil of the Arabian peninsula) where they have to pit their weakest ability (Conventional Military combat power) against our greatest strength (ability to call down unbelievable amounts of firepower) where they will primarily have to fight other forces (the Iraqi Security forces) in a battlefield that is mostly neutral in terms of guerrilla warfare. (Iraqi-mostly open terrain as opposed to guerrilla friendly areas like the mountains of Afghanistan or the jungles of SE Asia).

Did any of the critics of liberating Iraq ever look at a map? Iraq, for which we had the political, legal and moral justifications to attack, is the strategic high ground of the Middle East. A Geographic barrier that severs ground communication between Iran and Syria apart as well as providing another front of attack in either state or into Saudi Arabia if needed.

There were other reasons to do Iraq but here is the strategic military reason we are in Iraq. We have taken, an maintain the initiative from the Terrorists. They are playing OUR game on ground of OUR choosing.

Problem is Counter Insurgency is SLOW and painful. Often a case of 3 steps forward, two steps back. One has to wonder if the American people have either the emotional maturity, nor the intellect" to understand. It's so much easier to spew made for TV slogans like "No Blood for Oil" or "We support the Troops, bring them home" or dumbest of all "We are creating terrorists" then to actually THINK.

Westerners in general, and the US citizens in particular seem to have trouble grasping the fundamental fact of this foe. These Islamic Fascists have NO desire to co-exist with them. The extremists see all this PC posturing by the Hysteric Left as a sign that we are weak. Since they want us dead, weakness encourages them. There is simply no way to coexist with people who completely believe their "god" will reward them for killing us.

So we can covert to Islam, die or kill them. Iraq is about killing enough of them to make the rest of the Jihadists realize we are serious. They same way killing enough Germans, Italians and Japanese eliminated the ideologies of Nazism, Fascism and Bushido.

Americans need to understand how Bin Laden and his ilk view us. In the Arab world the USA is considered a big wimp. We have run away so many times. Lebanon, the Kurds, the Iraqis in 1991, the Iranians, Somalia, Clinton all thru the 1990s etc etc etc. The Jihadists think we will run again. In fact they are counting on it. That way they can run around screaming "We beat the American just like the Russians, come join us in Jihad" and recruit the next round of "holy warriors". Iraq is also a show place where we show the Muslim world that there are a lines they cannot cross. On 9-11-01 they crossed that line and we can, and will, destroy them for it -

If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

Another example of a member of Congress having White House envy.

If you run for Congress - you are pretty much telling the world you're a cocktail party animal, a talker - not a doer, you're looking to fill you pockets, and you have a needy ego.

Members of congress are (with a few exceptions) jokes.

You have no shame. Ron Paul is no conservative.
He is against the war and voted against the surge and wants the troops out now.

Ron Paul is no different than the other Marxists against the war.
