They would also need to get permission from Jordan because that route would take them into that nation's airspace as well. Yaakov Katz and the AP wrote in the February 24 edition of the Jerusalem Post, "According to Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Shlomo Brom of the Institute for National Security Studies from Tel Aviv University, Israel would be best off flying the longer route over the Indian Ocean with minimal penetration of other states' airspace. It takes months sometimes a year or more to plan/prepare an operation, especially one as complicated as taking out multiple sites across a country.

The last time they used 14 planes for one site. If they target 5 key sites in Iran, that's almost 70 aircraft. That's a lot of logisitics. It could be a year or two away for all we know.

Not only must the IAF overfly Iraq, they also must use US refueling capacity, either in the air or on the ground, and have the US Navy standing by for any splashed aircrew rescue.

Were you around in 1973? Do you remember the Arab oil embargo? All we did back then was assist Israel in defending herself during the Yom Kippur War and we ended up with long gas lines and people freezing to death.

If we let Israeli bombers fly over Iraq and "allow the Jews to slaughter innocent Muslim women and children asleep in their beds" -- well, that will make 1973 look like a walk in the park. I can't think of a better way to pi$$ off a billion Muslims

I think the US and Israel are leaking as many "contingency" plans to the world in a last-ditch effort to get Ahminutjob to come to his senses before we do in fact give Israel the OK to bombs away.

Ballistic or cruise missiles without nuclear warheads would not be at all cost effective against deep bunkers. Gotta be air delivered PGMs or nukes.

If Israel goes nuclear (and don't rule out the possibility if the Iranians seem appear to be on the threshold of nuclear capability) they won't ask anybody, and nothing will leak. They will not warn Washington (other than in very general terms), there will no leaks to the NYT, just a sudden busrt of light in the east.
