The House just completed voting, and has approved 246-182 the Democrats' defeatist resolution. This was expected: but the good news is, the 40-60 Republican defectors that the Democrats had been predicting failed to materialize. Only seventeen Republicans voted for the resolution --- and two Democrats broke ranks to vote against it.
First, let us recognize the two Democrats who did the right thing:

...precisely why it's unhelpful to vote for liberal Republicans in a general election.
Looks like a candidate for your ping list (and you can add me to it).
So much silence on the two Democrats that voted with the Republicans; especially considering the power the Speaker of the House has over it's party's members.
I don't doubt a lot of arm twisting and promises were made to avoid even more defections from Nancy's agenda of surrender.
Thanks for this. All the right people to contact in one neat post. I'm spamming my friends with this now :-)
Uh no, this is why it mattered to lose the House. This vote never would have happened in the republican House. Let's not learn the wrong lessons. Yes, 17 republicans voted the wrong way - and 99% of the democrats. Even the "more conservative" democrats.
Good point. Who are these two brave souls? From where do they hail? Perhaps we should call them and thank them for voting in favor of the troops.
Nice try, but again, I point you in the direction of the half decade of RINOism in the senate. All liberals in the party do is make one's leadership ineffective, and dilute one's message.
As one elderly lady I visit (who has voted straight ticket Republican for the past 20 years) told me yesterday - "Why should I bother voting? There's no difference between them anyway."
Nominating liberals merely cements that sort of sentiment.
These are the two democrats; I called all 17 republicans yesterday and I also called the two democrats and thanked them for supporting our troops and voting against the outrageous resolution.

You are SO absolutely right! Mark Kirk is my Rep. He was up for re-election last year and even though my yard was FULL of Republican election signs, I flatly refused to put his sign up. His immigration rating is "F" and that was enough for me. And now...THIS vote. I wrote him a polite, yet VERY pointed email this morning. It probably wasn't polite however to end it with saying that he is a Murtha cut-and-runner and a coward. Truth is a defense. Damn RINO.
And anyone that spells his name "Ric" has a boatload of other issues too. IMO. Sorry, but I'm po'ed!!!
As Republicans we owe it to ourselves to ream these a$$holes with a cattle prod for deserting the President and the GOP in a time of war.
Still looking for Rep. Sam Johnson's speech...anyone?
I reamed Kirk's arse but good this morning. If you see him walking bowlegged, you'll know why. Moron.
I am also furious at these treasonous jerks. However, voting for liberal republicans in a general election is an unfortunate necessity in order to maintain a majority in either the house or senate. Without the majority the rats call the shots, as they are doing now. The time to get rid of these traitors in the republican party is in the primaries.
One Republican Senator stated that we should have sent 100,000 new troops to Iraq. One problem with this......we don't have an additional 100,000 troops available. During Desert Storm we sent 500,000 troops to Iraq. What happened to them all? Most quit under Clinton.....they didn't trust him. Over 2000 officers quit because of Clinton's policys and they hated Hillary who hates them. Our military is so weak right now, numbers wise, we would be in deep crap if a major war happened. And...........if our numbers are so low, why is Congress closing down our military bases? One interesting question is.....how many Army and Marines do we have available within the US today? We can't continue to run our military with the Guard. The Guard is to be used in case our military needs them, not as our main fighting force.
I've already sent emails to all of my representatives. My congresswoman vote against the resolution, but in her monthly newsletter stated that she did in fact agree with it. She said she voted against it because she didn't want Democrats using it as a path to defunding.
I told her that dishonesty is dishonesty. And that her kind of cowardly, fence-sitting, underhanded 'support' for our President, our troops, and our country is what CAUSED the House resolution in the first place. Told her to grow a pair and just try some good old fashioned courage - the kind that average citizens exhibit every day in the face of terrorist threats (we don't have an army of armed guards watching our back, unlike congress), encroaching socialism, and our wide-open borders.
Our elected leaders have got to be the worst batch of cowards I've ever seen outside of Fwance.
