Gaydar founder death fall probed
BBC ^ | 02/12/2007

The co-founder of the Gaydar brand has been found dead outside his south London apartment.

Gary Frisch, who launched the online dating website in 1999, was found lying injured on the ground outside his Commodore House flat on Saturday.

Police are investigating whether the 38-year-old, from South Africa, fell or jumped from his eighth floor balcony.

A Wandsworth CID spokeswoman said the death was "unexplained". The death is not being treated as suspicious.

'Highly regarded'

Prior to launching Gaydar, Mr Frisch co-founded IT consultancy firm QSoft, after moving to the UK from South Africa in 1997.

In a statement, QSoft's directors said: "It is with great regret that we make this announcement. Gary was a highly regarded leader and colleague who cared first and foremost about the gay and lesbian community that we serve.

"He was an accomplished entrepreneur and a very generous man who also cared deeply about the people who worked for and with him."

A spokesman for QSoft said an event planned to take place in London this Thursday to mark the fifth birthday of GaydarRadio would go ahead as planned.

Surely they could have come up with some other title.

It ain't the fall that kills you - it's the sudden stop at the end.

He was still alive?? I can't imagine living through that, or wanting to.

Or more technically, "Deceleration Trauma."

No, with an 8 floor fall, you pretty much guarantee death. On to concrete. I think 6 is the minimum.

"Ouch" would be maybe a 3 floor fall.

No matter. It must really be painful, although not as lengthy a period of agony at eight floors.

My chosen method of death is to be loved to death by 8 winsome lasses, in a pool of sweet chocolate, while being tickled with feathers, watching a hilarious comedy during a beatiful sunset on a snow-covered mountain.

The ferocity of generosity offered a man who died from terminal velocity is to a level of religiosity, no?
