CA: If Giuliani is the answer, we're asking the wrong question
OC Register ^ | 2/13/07 | Steven Greenhut

Reports from the state Republican convention this weekend suggest that state GOP members are excited about former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is likely to run for president.

Think about this: The state GOP is becoming the party of liberal Arnold Schwarzenegger, supporter of socialized health care, minimum wage hikes, global warming extremism, debt spending and tax increases. Giuliani is the premiere police-state Republican. This is no longer the party of Reagan.

Is it time for supporters of limited government (remember that idea?) and a humbler foreign policy (to use GW Bush's election words) to jump ship?

There are loads of Freepers who are masquerading as conservatives.

My post from another thread.

KEYWORDS: 1NYISA3RDWORLDCITY; 1NYISNOTAMERICA; 1NYTOTHEBOTTOMOFSEA; ANSWER; BLUESTATELIBS; CALIFORNIA; CORRUPT; CROSSDRESSER; ELECTIONPRESIDENT; ELECTIONS; GIULIANI; GUNGRABBER; HOMOSEXUALENDORSED; HOMOSEXUALSLOVEHIM; JULIEANNIE; LINGUINEPHALLUS; LIVEDWITHHOMOSEXUALS; LOGCABINREPUBLICAN; MORALLYCHALLENGED; NONPALEOSHATERUDY; PALEOSKEYWORDS; PALEOSMEARJOB; PALEOSREALLYSCARED; PROABORTION; QUESTION; RINO; WHAAAAMBULANCE; WIDEOPENBORDERS; Click to Add Keyword

Not only the FR homosexual obsession, but NYISNOTAMERICA and NYTOTHEBOTTOMOFSEA, that should win some votes, and the classic LINGUINEPHALLUS, which I presume is a sexual commentary on Italians, though I admit I don't know whether it means Italians are unfaithful husbands or gay. Should win some votes too.

Within the anti-Rudy chorus, there are some real obsessives.

Giuliani is the premiere police-state Republican

I see that the anti-Rudy bashers have now decided a mayor who reduces crime is a fascist. As if THAT is a conservative position -- law and order = police state. LOL, that's what we've always heard from the Far Left.

I think the keyword limit is five, which means that two people could be responsible for most of that. I wouldn't give it too much thought.

If memory serves, Rudy had previous run-ins with arafat, and with that saudi ambassador about his blood money check, while hillary was shmoozing with arafats and the rest of them. Thus Rudy seems to understand WOT, while hillary doesn't. But this point aside, hillary is a totalitarian type, and thus is to be rejected absolutely, for what she/it is, regardless of what she/it says or does. Rudy, OTOH, does not strike me as a totalitarian type, and I have seen a few of those. I am a shooter, an NRA instructor - and I could live with Rudy's position on firearms. All my stuff is squarely within the law.

Rudy RINO was in the home of FR last night, picking up 2 grand apiece from gullible country clubbers who think he's a conservative alternative to HRC.

IF "conservatives" were to unite around one candidate he might have a chance to derail Rudy. But that won't happen.

NO ONE is good enough for everyone.

As it stands there is one alternative to Guiliani and that is McCain. The most conservative politicians with a realistic chance (Allen and Santorum) were kicked out of office in the 2006 conservative wipeout.

One must examine the Party to see why conservatives were so roundly rejected. It clearly is NOT because it was too liberal.

BURNNYCBURN

NYC has burned.

I look forward to BURNUSSCOLEBURN or GOOIEDSGO

I accept that most terrorists would be anti-Rudy, but I didn’t know any posted here.

I don’t think they should be scrubbed. But I think it would be interesting the posters who make them. I think the mods have a record of who adds what.

I commend you for those positions, and I don't disagree about the issue of totalitarianism, nor Hillary's propensity for it. My concern is that, if Rudy has a blind spot, whether politically motivated or not, in the area of illegal immigration, it will do us little good for him to be denouncing terrorist leaders while simultaneously doing nothing to stop their minions from coming into the country.

If I'm not mistaken, Every keyword and entry on FR has an info tag associated with it that gets logged, with info as to who done it.

I was going to do a disclaimer, it seems to work sometimes and ask that all parties respect the forum rules re:spamming and keywords and such, it has made
Nascar threads much more pleasant the last couple years, but as I have said many times before, forum decorum is an art that seems to be dying these days. It must be related to the 'politics of personal destruction' thing that started some time back. Folks are more likely to let it all hang out , anonymity or not.

There are loads of Freepers who love Rudy! Very sad. Some of them you'll recognize as conservative, level headed people when reading their remarks on other topics. It is the end of the world when the kool-aid is being drunk by a Freeper! I guess a lot of people are just throwing in the towel.

Loads of FReeper? That would be 15%, which is what Rudy will get in the primaries. Rudy can and will be defeated.

It stands to reason that Rudy would be popular in a leftist state, as he is a leftist.

So HOW COME Rudy gets U.S. citizens off welfare, but allows welfare for ILLEGAL aliens?

"It's time to promote someone like Duncan Hunter "

I'm hearing people calling talk shows praising Duncan Hunter. I believe he's starting to catch on. Move over Rudy.
