Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is apologizing for saying the lives of the more than 3,000 U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war were "wasted."
During his first campaign trip this weekend, the Illinois senator told a crowd in Iowa: "We now have spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted."
He immediately apologized on Sunday, saying the remark was "a slip of the tongue."
During an appearance Monday in Nashua, N.H., he apologized again, telling reporters he meant to criticize the civilian leadership of the war, not those serving in the military.
"Even as I said it, I realized I had misspoken," Obama said. "It is not at all what I intended to say, and I would absolutely apologize if any (military families) felt that in some ways it had diminished the enormous courage and sacrifice that they'd shown."
Obama made his second visit to New Hampshire on Monday, following his speech Saturday announcing his candidacy in Illinois on Saturday and a visit to first-caucus state Iowa.

Ha
I will say this - at least Obama knows when to apologize. Most libs apologies amount to "I am sorry you are so stupid you didn't realize I was trying to make a joke."
Obama is the same guy who couldn't tell the difference between John Bolton and Josh Belton. He's a lightweight.
If Obama becomes president having his wife as First Lady will be like having Cynthia McKinney as First Lady.
God help us all.
"Hey, man, I was wasted at the time..."
He did not apologize.
He said he WOULD.
But it's up to someone else to show that they're offended.
Typical non-apology apology.
Sure he's sorry

she goes off on anyone who dares say he is not experienced enough. He's not experienced enough at all. He brags about being against the war from the beginning. Before he was even a U.S. Senator. Back when he couldn't even get the time of day from anyone, let alone an intelligence briefing from the CIA, or an interview with anyone from the Pentagon. This guy is touting his voodoo abilities, his clairvoyance and palm reading capabilities. Because he certainly can't convince me he came to any conclusion based upon logic gleaned from known intelligence. This pinhead simply flipped a coin that was anti-war on both sides. What the hell would he be saying today if Iraq was a complete success? Would his position of being against this war as an ill conceived project still hold true? Wouldn't his logic based upon exactly nothing still have brought him to the same anti-war conclusion? What if brand new WMDs were found? Would he still have this position? This guy is bragging about his ability to "guess" about matters as important as war. He should be ridiculed and mocked for the idiot he is. |
This guy is a loose cannon; by my count, this is at least 3 things -- big things -- he's had to come out and apologize for.
He ain't gonna make it.
So he is not really articulate...
Bush lied
Huh ?
If he's referring to President Bush then he has no clue as to the responsibilities of the office of President..."Commander-in-Chief"...
Obama said. "It is not at all what I intended to say, and I would absolutely apologize if any (military families) felt that in some ways it had diminished the enormous courage and sacrifice that they'd shown."
Translation: It is not at all what I intended to say, and I would absolutely apologize if any potential voters from military families might take offense and decide not to vote for me as a result. These are not the Droids you are looking for....
Scott Johnson of the must-read Powerline Blog (www.powerlineblog.com) has coined the term "Obamanation" for any "slip of the tongue" or outrageous statement made by the Illinois Senator. Wish I had thought of it.
WHy is that we ALWAYS need After-Action reports on what Democrats MEANT to say???
She will sink his presidential chances. I hope he gets the nod.
She sure has the Cynthia McKinney look to her - both physically and emotionally.
