I have not made up MY mind. But thank you for your opinion on the matter. I am considering all three candidates. If one trashes the other, the trasher is the first to be marked off my list.

Fair enough.

I think Brownback has strayed too far on economic, defense, and fiscal issues and Huckabee doesn't have the charisma to win. Hunter has all the above. Although, all three have a lot of work to do if they want the name recognition to be able to win.

I want to hear more. I know about Brownback and Huckabee in a longer term sense than I know about Hunter. You cannot erase history, though Romney thinks you can.

I'll make my personal choice known when I vote in the republican primary.

As far as the general election, I will vote, and I will vote for ANY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE who Hillary is running against.

HONK! if you like Fred Thompson!

Thompson is a McCain disciple. If you don't like McCain, you won't like Fred either.

blau993;dmz Ask the National Alliance of Families what their opinion of McCain is and you will learn the truth about how hard he worked to prevent the recovery of our missing troops remains.

In a Navy Times report on the Missing Service Personnel Act, Senator John McCain receives a less than flattering review. In a quote by McCain we hear it is "... unworkable, unnecessary and counterproductive." He is also quoted as saying: "The provisions of this Bill {MSPA} would require the creation of a costly and burdensome bureaucracy with no added value to the process." In the long run, we should not be surprised. McCain has long gone to extremes to undermine efforts of countless people in search of a fair accounting and the truth. Perhaps, we should ask McCain just exactly WHAT IS UNWORKABLE, UNNECESSARY AND COUNTERPRODUCTIVE... identifying Live POWs and returning remains of MIAs or the Senators' continued tantrums and power games. http://www.aiipowmia.com/updates/updt196.html

Every candidate other than Hunter (who has as much chance as I do) seems to be unacceptable to my fellow Free Republicans.

We like Newt too.

Heaven forbid we elect a (shudder!) RINO.

If we're going to take the party as far left as you seem to want it, we might just as well go ahead and dissolve the Republican Party and start over. If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything.

I didn't support him--but a lot on here did and I would have, had he been nominated. What's the point of your question, anyway? That popularity makes a candidate right? That unpopularity makes him wrong? Your screen name is an apt description of your intellect.

Well, you've been here marginally longer than I, so I'm surprised. The first point is evident in the mission statement. The second part was evident in the posts. Or do you take exception to the sarcastic use of the word "knucklehead?"

Your side. There was more than a little sarcasm in the last clause--unless you're one of those who hijacked the forum. But I still agree with you on this issue, either way.

I have no clue as to how long I could have "endured", but I am not trained like Navy pilots and crew's are.

My husband is ex counter-intel, and would have died before giving up one code or even a tiny bit of information. He is no different from thousands of other's that would have refused to sell our their country.

Well, I read the mission statement different than you do.

Oh and I don't give much credence (does that clear the water a little?) to sign on dates.

The point of my question was in response to your unsolicited two cents posted to me, extolling the good old days when Keyes was supported in masse here. Pat Robertson holds many of the same views as Keyes, and Reagan for that matter. But only one of those three is not a knucklehead, and only one of those three was worthy of support in an election. I'll let you figure out why.

Actually, if I remember the results correctly, a lot of people had their own candidate but didn't hate Keyes so he was 2 or 3 on their list. The number ones above him ran the gamut from Bauer to Quayle.

Okay, for my own sake, let's see in the gray matter can remember this much trivia. There were 9 GOP candidates at the time: Bush, Forbes, Buchanan, Quayle, Liddy Dole, Bauer, Keyes, McCain ... nope. Don't remember the final one. 8 out of 9 aint bad.

The conservatives in toto dominated, but it was split up too many ways.

Bush is far more than merely inadquate on Immigration.

He pushes for amnesty and refuses to use his powers as Commander In Chief to close the borders using the National Guard or the Army other than a token show of force that is not even allowed to respond to incursions other than to report and retreat.

He's borderline incompetant when it comes to this issue.

If he's not incompetant then he's borderline treasonous. Either way the man supports by words and deeds the invasion of this country by those not of this country, some of which wish our destruction.

Agree, with the exception of Liddy Dole, whose philosophy I question (the existence of it, that is). At the time, I supported, knowing it was a lost cause, Forbes. I'm couldn't be described as a "social" conservative, although I share some of their values.

One thing, not germane to any of this thread, I disagree with when these discussions begin is the categorization of inflexible 2nd Amendment rights with "social" conservatism. That value is, to me, the bedrock of everything, the sine qua non of our Republic. Without having that, we have no other rights protected from Government. That, if nothing else, is what makes Rudy totally unacceptable to me.
