Obama, what with all his wisdom, said in his speech that he would remove our troops by sometime in 2008 as I recall.
John Howard remarked that it was dumb to commit to a date like that as, duh, all the terrorists have to do is wait until that date.
Wyden I believe said that Howard has no right to interfere in our politics but as Cornyn corrected (I think I got these right but correct please if I am wrong) that Australia is our big ally in this war on terror and he most certainly has a right to comment on a possible President (gag with me with a spoon) Obama who is out and about declaring the date when we would be gone.
None of the Dems have an answer...at least one not worth listening to. Whatever happened to that bogus Iraq Surrender Group headed by James Baker?
They all are getting on my last damn nerve.
Excellent point.....
Wolf has an ex-CIA guy that can't decide if he wants to accuse the Bush Admin. of trumpeting Iran's involvement in Iraq, which has been going on since the war started, as a replica of what they did in 2002, regarding the runup to the Iraq War....
OR, if he wants to defend the Bush Admin. in the accusation by another panelist from the CFR, who is saying that the US is blaming IRAN for our "failure in Iraq".
Lang had to discount that remark, when Wolf jumped on it a as "the reason" that Bush is possibly instigating an "unnecessary" war in Iran.
All Lang did though was say that "I don't think the Bush Administration has acknowledged that we are losing in Iraq...so I doubt that is the reason"...
Boy oh boy...these ex-CIA, and ex-military are having a HARD time with these talking points given to them by Soros. (That is my theory and I am sticking with it...LOL)
True enough, but they can't be against our involvment in Afghanistan because bin Laden is still on the loose. Although they may try to obfuscate the connection between Saddam and AQ, there can be no denying that the Taliban harbored AQ and AQ was responsible for 9/11. The late Jonny Apple predicted failure and called it a quagmire but it is hard to dispute success.
NATO is in overall charge in Afghanistan, but the US is still providing half of the troops and the bulk of the logistical support. NATO is having a hard time meeting its troop commitments.
The only difference I have heard in talking to Democrats is they do not want to appear to be opposed to all war, just Iraq, but the whole issue is really about politics and not about what is in our best interests.
Publicly, the Dems cannot be against the WOT. Hence, they can't criticize our involement in Afghanistan except to say that we don't have enough troops there and poppy growth is up. The Left has always tried to make Iraq the war of choice and Afghanistan the good war. Ted Koppel's Nightline show that named all the casualties failed to mention those in Afghanistan. The Washington Post runs a daily scorecard of US casualties in Iraq with no similar recap for Afghanistan.
The last time I recall a DBM report on our doing well in the WOT war was when we took out 250 or 300 recently in Iraq.
It's just no in their political interest. Remember,to dems,DBM, the war really doesn't exist only the political value of the war.
I agree with you. In defense of kabar, the left has been silent about lumping Afghanistan in with Iraq. The reason in my opinion is what you wrote.
Seems that there's this pesky little detail about him not even taking office until January 2009, assuming he wins. Or does he really think that he, as a single US senator, has the power to bring remove the troops all by himself?
my take on the good, the bad and the ugly. We've got to get involved in these races, save the good conservatives and replace the RINOs in the primaries or hold our noses and support them. We've also got to work hard to get good candidates to stand up against the Dhimmicrats.

Oh! Hi...hehe...ToL how's it going?
*hides booze behind back*....we were just talking about you. :)
Even then, they spun it as a failure, on the grounds that the Iraqi army needed to call on the Americans for some support.
Except that we make up about half of the forces and provide most of the logistical support. In fact, we also suffer the bulk of the casualties with 358 killed against 162 for other coalition members.
How quickly you've forgotten. You are a Jedi, remember? On the Council?
Use the Force, Phsst....
*snort*
You're right Fishtalk...the Aussies are in there in Iraq grinding it out with us.
PM Howard has EVERY right to comment cause the reckless talk by politicians seeking office in this country puts HIS men and women in the military in danger as well.
I think they just want a good job, a little heat in the winter and a decent bottle of stolsky every once in a while.
They won't get it from pooties Russia. He's all commie all the time and now rearing his ugly head in public.
Wolf throwing Feith under the bus...so Pat Lang can gets some kicks at him as well....of course without Feith there to defend himself.
Al Gore??
I doubt it. As long as bin Laden remains on the loose, the Dems will not call for the redeployment [removal] of our forces from Afghanistan. In fact, they are calling for more troops for Afghanistan.
Have fun EDPC,great posts and great job last week!
