Report: Pelosi seeking military flights
UPI ^ | Feb 1,2007

Posted on 02/01/2007 8:11:31 PM PST by AmericanMade1776

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is seeking to use military aircraft for domestic flights as did her predecessor, Rep. Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.

Sources told The Washington Times Pelosi wants to use the aircraft for herself, staff, family and other members of the California delegation for the commute between Washington and San Francisco.

The practice began after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when Hastert, as second in line to the presidency, began using military flights to Illinois for security reasons, the newspaper said.

A former Hastert aide told the Times the speaker did not use military planes for political trips or to regularly transport his family.

Pelosi's request was made to the Pentagon, which forwarded it to the White House but a decision has not been announced, the newspaper said.

Congressional access to military passenger jets is usually restricted to official trips abroad, for domestic flights to military bases or events to which the Pentagon invitd the lawmaker, the report said.

Learn from former Governor of Massachusetts a Republican, Jane Swift

BOSTON (AP) — Jane Swift gave birth to a baby girl three weeks before her election as Massachusetts' lieutenant governor in 1998, rankling conservatives who said a woman shouldn't combine career and family.

Now she's giving them plenty of reason to say, ``I told you so.''

Jan 13,2000 After a weeklong furor, the state's most prominent working mom apologized Wednesday for using aides to baby sit and for taking a state police helicopter to get home because 14-month-old Elizabeth Ruth had pneumonia.

I've got an idea. Resurrect a couple of C-141s with the rig-job head and web seats, like they offered Pat Schroeder. If it was good enough for the troops it's good enough for blinky.

Pelosi has five children: Nancy Corinne, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul, and Alexandra, and six grandchildren, and she is asking for free military rides for them between California and Washington D.C. ...yep Blinky has got a lot of nerve, or just isn't too bright.

Look at watch you searched, I did, and none of those articles stress the fact that Hastert did not use those flights and did not use them for his family, but you can be sure Pelosi would.

So when a military aircraft has to suddenly drop or raise altitude, does her head explode from an imbalance of pressure or collapse as in a shrunken skull, beyond what we already see on a daily basis?

The problem is that with Hastert's abuse of the system. You now have the nose under the tent. So just get ready to see millions shelled out to haul her sorry butt. Thanks again Mr. Hastert.

Is anyone here really surprised about this?

Sick and tired of Congress using the military like their own private airline. Wanting to take her family on a military flight should be forbidden but I have no faith the WH will turn it down.

It costs the AF mega bucks to do these flights and they don't get paid even a fraction of the costs.

Makes me mad all over again at the folks that wanted to teach us a lesson and gave us these nitwits in power. Cannot imagine the poor pilots that have to fly this scum.

There is NO REASON that taxpayers should spend ONE cent for her or anyone else to fly just to go home!

If Congresscritters are going to foreign countries..that is one thing..but, just to get back and forth from their home states??? NOPE.

Sources told The Washington Times Pelosi wants to use the aircraft for herself, staff, family and other members of the California delegation for the commute between Washington and San Francisco.

I assume that she doesn't intend to pay for the flights. Maybe she just wants to avoid the airport security checks that all the rest of us have to endure because she's a very special lady.

Civics lesson time:

First in line of succession - VP (Dick Cheney)

Second in line of succession - Speaker of the House (Nancy Pelosi) - how that pains me to type!

Third in line of succession - President pro tempore of the Senate (Robert Byrd) -hack, choke...

Fourth in line of succession - Secretary of State (Condoleezza Rice)

Fifth in line of succession - Secretary of the Treasury (Henry M. Paulson, Jr.)

Sixth in line of succession - Secretary of Defense (Robert Gates)

etc...

Tell her the only thing available for her ride to SF in is a fighter. Show her that little button to hit when she wants to communicate with the pilot and see where she ejects. Maybe over a red state that she doesn't know exists.

One other thought...now that the Dems are supposedly portraying the image of a "clean" government without undue influence from vote-buying by lobbyists - I mean - didn't they just ban the use of free corporate percs... So she has to get around with her family somehow. After all, we wouldn't DARE let the "most powerful woman in the world" ride in a commoner's first-class seat on a commercial carrier, would we?

I disagree on that only because it is not uncommon for businesses to fly employees home for a few days when on extended business trips. I would agree with coach or business class tickets every 6 weeks or so - for her. I expect Pelosi is looking for unlimited, frequent above executive class travel for her, her extended family, and political cronies. We all know that it's the arrogance of power that motivates her. W will approve this in a second.

From what I read in a different article...Denny Hastert only started using military planes after 9/11...for security reasons.

IOW...it might not have been his idea...and if he was only going to Illinois..himself, without family and the whole Illinois delegation...that is at least a BIT different than Evita Pelosi is demanding.
