at least he / she / it has finally stopped claiming they were "wrapped" packages.

One of these devices was attached to a bridge on Route 93, the major North-South highway in Boston. The spot was next to Sullivan Square a major public transportation hub with scores of buses and the subway. No one informed the police or the government that these devices were being put in place. The police did exactly what they should do in a post-9/11 world. Turner should pay a hefty fine...
Some may think this was an overreaction. 20/20 hindsight is great, but if an airport security guy had questioned why some guys were bringing boxcutters on a flight with one way tickets and no luggage on 9/11, 3000+ people would not have died...

Get serious. Just for a minute...get serious. Then use your brain for something else besides a lint trap for your mouth.

Is Boston that stupid?

Hmmm... let's see...

Boston returns Ted Kennedy and John Kerry to the US Senate every six years...

Boston has three of the dumbest Congressmen on Earth...

Boston refuses to issue gun permits to the law-abiding while coddling minority thugs who are "victims of racism"...

Just re-elected for the third time Papa Tom, Mayor for Life...

Has the worst road system of any large US city after having spent $18,000,000,000 of your money to put its highway system underground... the system now leaks so badly that the US Coast Guard requires every car using the tunnel to carry a flotation device for every car's occupants...

The former speaker of the MA state house and the former president of the MA state senate are both convicted felons; one is the brother of one of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted...

Been to both cities, as well as the lovely town of Saginaw. Economically depressed, with some real knuckle-draggers in the eastern part of the state. Nevertheless, plenty of scenic beauty and sensible folks in the western part of the state.

Michigan is like East Germany, with fatter people.* ;-)

Hey Bob... I suggest that you be the one to get up close and personal to determine if that package attached to a bridge support is a bomb or not...

And what exactly would a remotely detonated bomb look like? Try to remember that during the afganistan war, the soviets actually made plastic explosive "toys" for children to find and play with, killing scores of small children.

You simply can't make assumptions the way you did in your article. On the other hand, you go right ahead, if you'll be the one leading the way. That way, you'll be the first one killed.

I guess you're right. Ya know, all that money spent on Homeland Security, nutz. What a waste. So let me see if I understand now - I sure don't want to be called half brained anymore, if I see a suspicious looking box under a bridge I should just open it and see what some wild and crazy guy has left for me to have fun with. Is that about it? It's so hard to just put 9/11 in the back of my, uh, mind. I really believed it was done by terrorists and that we need to be vigilant because somebody keeps saying there are still a couple terrorists around. I am so gullible. I'll believe almost anything.

Bob you absolutely nailed it!

Here's another excellent analysis, by noted security expert Bruce Schneier.

Not that I'm in favor of profiling, but he certainly fits the stereotype of an artist.

But at least half the citizens I met seemed pretty bright.

The percentage has slipped a good deal since then.

Mark,
You're not the first person who'd have me die to prove your point.
That's the difference between myself and you.
I can live with your opinions.

37% voted for Dubya in 2004.

What hurts Massachusetts more than anything is the out-of-state students (400,000).

They register to vote in Massachusetts and, led by their liberal professors (also from out-of-state), vote 95% straight dhimmicrat.

Without those students, Massachusetts would be close to a 50/50 state.

Thanks for this data. It makes sense. Massachusetts, like most of New England, was once a majority of Yankee Republicans ("enlightened Republicans.")

Noting of the sort, and I'm sorry if you thought that I harbored any ill-will towards you. I certainly don't wish your death. However, as someone who went to college with a man who (while in the military) worked in EOD, and having a cousin in Israel who nearly once got on a bus that was blown up by a suicide bomber (she was running late that day, due to an overly fussy daughter), I don't take the possibility of bombs lightly. You said that the people and managers of Boston were stupid for the actions taken when unfamiliar electronic packages were found in unusual places.

In Israel, you'd hear "Shell me zeh?" when finding one of those "packages," and upon nobody steping up to claim it, the area would have been evacuated, and EOD people would be brought in.

I was simply suggesting that if you are so sure that there's no danger in unknown parcels found in unusual places, that you should volunteer to check them out, rather than simply ridiculing those who take these sorts of things very seriously.

Mark,
Some of these "devices" were also on the bridges and buildings for more than a couple of weeks. Must've been a real long fuse.

My growing problem is the City of Boston turning this from anger to payback in a few short days. As this incident took place during the day, how much municipal overtime are we talking? Two million? Is Bruce Willis working for the BPD now?

This is just a case of liberal greed in the aftermath of an overreaction. My opinion for what it's worth.
