Rant is not a synonym for ratings. But it could be where The View is concerned.
The ABC talk show, which upped its decibel level with the arrival of Rosie O'Donnell last fall, has drawn the biggest audience in its nearly 10-year history, according to the latest daytime ratings from Nielsen Media Research.
The coffee-time kvetch averaged 4.2 million viewers for the week of Jan. 15-19. The previous high, of 4.1 million, was posted nearly three years ago.
Overall, ABC said, View viewership is up 15 percent this season.
The numbers' spike coincides with O'Donnell's rants on Donald Trump, Kelly Ripa, American Idol auditions, President Bush and more. snip
And O'Donnell hasn't been the only View cohost letting it rip. Elisabeth Hasselbeck has called out Law & Order: SVU. Referee Barbara Walters, in defense of O'Donnell, has called out Trump. Only Joy Behar has had trouble generating headlines, if not getting in a word.
Katie Couric, for one, might want to take The View example to heart.
Bereft of venting sessions, the Couric-led CBS Evening News remained stuck in last place, with 7.5 million viewers, for the week of Jan. 22-26. That's on par with what the telecast was doing last year under the helm of the low-profile Bob Schieffer.
It was Couric's ascension to the anchor chair that led to O'Donnell joining The View, as well as former View moderator Meredith Vieira joining NBC's Today. And as has been the case since this game of musical chairs commenced, Couric is the only one who hasn't found a comfy seat.
At Today, Couric's old show, the morning-news program widened its lead over ABC's Good Morning America for the week of Jan. 8-14, NBC said. Numbers-wise, Today averaged 5.2 million viewers to its top rival's 4.8 million.

Sort of like watching a female Archie Bunker without the comedy.

It's the "freak-show factor."
I'm sure they're very proud.

If the "Fairness" doctrine ends up becoming law, will have to replace one of the liberal hags with another female conservative? How about replacing Rosie with Ann Coulter?

the show is just serving as a platform for Rosie to promote her homosexual agenda. I caught a few minutes one day at an oil service station and she was talking about these poor people who are born into the wrong body so they have to have sex changes. Unreal!

I had to watch it when friends were visiting. As best I can tell, everyone watches hoping to see what they will give away at the end.

And that is the only thing Bawbwa is concerned with. Never mind that Rosie O'Donut has made her look like a total fool in front on the entire country - it's the ratings, stupid!

Mission accomplished. Their aim could not have been more obvious. People on the right responding reflexively to every single moronic word uttered on this show was an exercise in stupidity and manipulation.

Who makes time to watch this crap?? I love the fact Elizabeth is a Republican and is very conservative, but her talents are being misused and misdirected. Rosie??? Good God..her show tanked, her mag tanked..heck half the time she is half tanked..whats next Babs in the Pride Parade.
I dislike Rosie more and more everyday (trying to be pc here).. I hate the fact she doesn't support our President,(actually has called for an impeachment, but supported Clinton and his troll wife) doesn't support or appreciate our Troops and our Constitution. I wish she would move to whoville and take the slime with her.
