It was my belief that our current conflict is called Operation Iraqi Freedom. A few weeks ago, at a local church in town, they put up a timeline showing their growth in relation to world events over the last 75-80 years.
They discuss WWII, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm etc. and chart their growth, pivitol moments for their community etc.
The Church is filled with lefties (with bumper stickers galore like Fermez la Bush, Kerry Edwards, Vote Peace...you get the idea)
So, I feel like I am trapped in a little pocket of hell as it is because of some personal experiences with the pastor and some of the evil "sorority sisters" that attend...I go once in a while because it is my husband's church....I stick with my Catholic Church most of the time. I try to avoid Mother *&^* because of personal baggage.
I went to the back of the lunchroom after coffee to stay off her radar and saw the timeline running the entire length of the back wall. It was a nice out of the way place to avoid most people until my hubby was done with his responsibilities. I started at the beginning and read my way to 2004....when I started to feel my blood boil...they have the current conflict listed as "The Invasion of Iraq"
So Freepers, I ask you two things...one, can you just rename a war if you don't like it? (let's call WWII the invasion of Europe instead)
And two, am I overreacting and looking for things to be pissed about because the pastor is a *$&#&# and I have had so many bad experiences there?
I am not being a smartass....it is just that I tend to see anti-Bush/conservative things in so many places that sometimes I think I am too sensitive and tuned in (I have ruined NPR, most newscasts and almost all of Hollywood for my husband)
Consider this group therapy, or an intervention for an over thinker....

Can you rename a war...........depends on what is is.
I only 10% of the people there are the problem, why then don't the other 90% take care of it themselves? I keep hearing if USA pulls out, that small minority will take over the majority.
If those 90% don't want to fight for their own freedom when they are the majority, why should we fight for them?

It is OIF.....and it sounds like you should go back to your church.
Take a sharpie. Add important dates: Mass grave #100 found, Mass Grave #200 found, Mass Grave #300 found, Saddam found guilty of genocide, Rape Rooms ended, Chemical Weapons discovered, Constitutional voted on an approved by 70% of Iraqis, First Democratic Gov't in history of Iraq elected, Al Qaeda terrorists destroy Golden Mosque.
Cross out "Invasion of Iraq" and write in "Liberation of Occupied Iraq begins".
Yup...but sometimes we suck it up for the ones we love and he is tied there for historical (albeit wacko in my opinion) reasons.
I find I can stomach fewer and fewer events there, but I do have stepchildren there and I can't always get out of events....
Lol...believe me I have thought of it....and have warned the hubby that things may get uncomfortable.
I like you additions....
I would doubt WWI was called WWI prior to the arrival of WWII.
I remember on The Beverly Hillbillies, Granny called the Civil War the "War Twixt the North and The Americans".
It was called The Great War.
I wouldn't worry about people who are so ignorant they think the invasion of Iraq occurred in 2004.
We're not fighting "for them", we're fighting to prevent that 10% from putting in power, say, a new Saddam, or an Al Qaeda-linked regime. That would be bad for us. Right?
History is written by the winners. Sadly, thanks to the Left, the MSM appear to have "won" the war, and defeated America.
All that is great, but like the French in our rev. war they helped us beat the British and then left us to form our own government.
Still does not answer why the majority in a Constitutional government cannot stop the minority taking it away.
Yes, but why doesn't the 90% do it themselves.
I think you have hit on part of what must be bothering me....the sense of the Left and Hollywood and the MSM spinning without any sense of reality
