Key word is "if".
If we ban all the things that can poison drinking water, you're going to ban more things than you realize. Good luck with that.
And in what concentration. Certain natural substances in celery if concentrated sufficiently would form a potent carcinogenic brew. I've never had a dry cleaned item smell of solvent.
"If" you read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) which chemical manufacturers are required by law to supply, you will read;
Toxicology
Skin and eye irritant. Harmful if inhaled or ingested and in contact with skin. This chemical has been reported to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Typical TLV 50 ppm.
"in contact with skin"
Do you really want you or your family to be exposed to this chemical regularly?
To have your clothes cleaned with it?
I sure don't.
Trichloroethylene was once used in the Armed Forces to degrease and clean radio equipment. I know, because I have soaked airplane radio transmitters while in the USAF with my arms submerged in the stuff as it is inflammable and also used in fire-fighting equipment. But that was in the 50's. (It also degreases your skin to a shiny white.)
I hope you don't let your kids walk on any grass that has been sprayed with any pesticide.
Sure, if you want to live under the Taliban.
Somehow I don't see banning toxic substances as oppressive or cruel.
I hate my state.
wonder what effect this will have on the semi conductor industry - dont they use this as a solvent ?
So you don't see the difference between walking on grass sprayed with pesticide and spraying poisons on your clothing and wearing it.
That's reasonable.
whoops did I say trichoroethylene? dry cleaners use PERchloroethylene.
If you ate or drank laundry detergent it wouldn't be good for your health, but I bet you use it.
Get ready for stained suits, stinky pits, and and shrunken clothes.

Cardoza "once ran a bowling alley that hosted mud wrestling matches."
Cardoza had been Condit's Chief of Staff while Condit was still in the California Assembly.[3] Condit's son, Chad, eventually worked as an aide to Cardozo in the California Assembly.[2] Condit's sister, Dovie Wilson, was Cardoza's office manager in October of 2001.[4] Chads wife, Helen, worked as a paid as a fund-raiser for Cardoza in 2000, and another Condit relative described by the press as an "in-law," Jamie L. Filice, worked for Cardoza as a senior field representative in the same time period.[4]

"Dry Cleaners Secret" is at least as good as Dryel, but it is harder to find. Dryel needs a bag, but Dry Cleaners Secret does not. Neither one can get out bad spotting or soiling, but they remove body odor.
People keep promising me this state will fall into the pacific soon!!!! I am running out of patience. No offense to the right minded cali freepers.
So what does this have to do with Drycleanergate?
This is a joke right?
No, the Pacific Ocean doesn't want the pollutants.
