Maybe Hayes felt he was being snubbed, but as "South Park" has continued over the years, the cast has grown, and Chef just wasn't as central a character as he had been in the first few seasons. It's too bad he won't be coming back, but if I get more Butters, Jimmy & Timmy, Garrison, etc., I'm OK with that. The world of "South Park" has become more diversified and interesting, and can get along without Chef.

I'm not Christian, but I'm no fan of people bashing Christians. The South Park guys are non-religious libertarians. I don't think they are being ironic as much as they are using Jesus as a comic tool. Otherwise, they wouldn't make him such a pathetic and feeble character and make God himself some alien-looking disfigured creature also.

And I LIKE South Park even though they are completely blasphemous. I know the difference and I am only looking at them for humor and not for my values or understanding of life. That, and I wish people would spend more time respecting my authoritay!

Thats a very interesting take. I'll be honest and tell you that I've never heard that take on South park before. I do find it very funny myself (aside from the bathroom humor which I don't find particularly comically worthy). I'm Jewish so I'm skewered weekly but mostly by a 2 ft tall fat kid with no faith whatsoever.

I do think that almost exclusively that people who have real faith won't be bothered by South Park since the real villians are virtually always people who are hypocrites and immoral. There are times when they really do get nasty and just mock the belief of some faiths simple to try to publicly humiliate them. Its not their best work and would have more impact if it were done in a way which were funnier and used more irony and sarcasm.

true, the wii episodes were hilarious with warring scientists. If you are a Christian and you can laugh at most of it, you are probably pretty secure in your religion. People who know their own faith tend not to be so easily offended since there is little that can be done to sway them.

Like someone said upthread, the South Park Jesus is a moral, wise, harmless (and feckless) character. My only objection is minor: they portray Him as effeminate and helpless. That show is way more ironically illustrative at a second glance, and I think Matt and Trey know this.

But Jesus is one of the SuperFriends, so that makes it all cool, dude.

I'm sure evangelics aren't thrilled with Jesus having a public access talk show and being ignored by everybody.

Thats the reason he has a public access show on South Park. They are showing that he is being ignored and more attention should be paid to him.

One of the very best shows ever was in the first few seasons, when Jesus and Satan were going to have either a wrestling or boxing match. I won't give away the ending for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it was an eye-opener.
