The attack happened Saturday as the U.S. military convened a meeting to discuss security for Ashura, the upcoming Shiite pilgrimage to Karbala.

"When asked why Iraqi police did not intervene to stop the gunmen from fleeing, al-Mishawi said "they assumed it was American-on-American violence and wanted to stay out of it."

No doubt an inside job.

seven SUVs with tinted windows -- similar to the vehicles used by top U.S. military officials

Why are US Military Officials running around in SUVs? I'd feel better if they were in up armored HUMVEEs, or better yet Bradly fighting vehicles. I doubt the terrorists are going to be able to procure a few of the latter.

But, be that as it may. It's time to pick up the fat Mullah with the crazy eyes. I'm sure he needs a vacation, and there's a "room" at Club GitMo with his name on it.

Several of the SUVs used in the attack were found late Saturday in neighboring Babil province, along with two of the suspected gunmen, an official in Baghdad said. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the gunmen were wounded and detained by the Americans, but the U.S. military said the two were found dead.

Yeah, thats the ticket!

Yes, some reports state US military and Iraqi military uniforms. Also reported some American uniforms and IDs found in bags in one or more of the used suvs.

No doubt! "American-on-American violence"!!! It had to be an inside job. That's about the lamest excuse yet! These pieces of scum went through THREE checkpoints and were able to get into the building! What happened is completely inexcusable, unbelievable. A new fresh level of hell! God bless our troops! The whole time my son was there, I told him - TRUST NO ONE!!!!!

We should really forget about bringing any kind of true peace to Iraq. If they want to live in a zoo, let them live in a zoo. We should just concentrate on using Iraq as a base for staging our battle (soon to come at a movie theater near you) with the Mullahs.

I would much prefer to see a headstone with his name on it. It is long overdue.

al-Mishawi said "they assumed it was American-on-American violence and wanted to stay out of it."
al-Mishawi should be rounded up and shot dead in the street.

I smell the Qods force....this was a very professional hit......and yes this was a hit....well planned...and executed...this one was not some terrorist group.

I suspect they had inside help.
