Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos were convicted in a court in El Paso, Texas, for shooting and wounding a Mexican drug smuggler.

Step back for a second and reread that sentence. And realize the impact of it.

Loyalty is a one way street with the Bushes. IMO

They choose whom they are loyal to in return; it's not automatic.

They're citizens of the world.

They were great with us. I think you may have to factor in the source. Just because we are behind a great cause, it doesn't mean their delivery might not be the nicest. I was firm, but pleasant. I said, "I'm calling to make two comments...1) to ask that you let our President know that it is really important that he pardon the two border patrolmen. If this is allowed to continue, we'll never have anyone who'll want the job. They are too important to our National Security; and 2) that you let our President know that we sincerely appreciate how he's not listening to the polls and is taking the WOT seriously. Thank him for "getting it," and not running the country by popular vote. They couldn't have been nicer to both me and hubby.

Pardon the Mr. President.

It is no wonder he's an unpopular President making stupid decisions like this. I wonder if the Mexican government has something on Bush or his family that he doesn't want to get out.

That sentence is false.
They were convicted of Obstruction of Justice...not the shooting.

That's not what I meant. I'm sorry, I should've been clearer.

The shooting of a DRUG SMUGGLER is the part to which I was referring.

The shooting of a DRUG SMUGGLER is the part to which I was referring.

All would have been fine if they didn't take evidence from the scene and lie on their reports.
That is a felony that carries a mandatory sentence and they were convicted by a jury.

There's SO much more to this story. PRN...it's here, in the archives....

Not that it matters anymore.

I've read it. They're still guilty because of their own actions.

I'm not going to argue. They're in prison now.

If only Bush would be so vigorous enforcing the law concerning illegals and securing the borders.

Pardoning criminals is the right thing to do if they have been unjustly convicted.

"if they have been unjustly convicted."

They obstructed justice.

How about an "earned pardon" would that be as acceptable as "earned legalization"?

Don't be a felon...no need for pardon.

DraftdodginTonySnow's office is telling people they are too emotional. Perhaps his office staff is reflective of the rigorous training he went through upon entering the...ahem...Peace Corps. Good to know airborne/ranger Duncan Hunter is leading this fight. With luck it will raise his profile and provide an issue that Mitt/Rudy/John will remain silent or take the other side on.
