Animal Tags for People?[RFID Chips]
Business Week ^ | 11 Jan 2007 | David E. Gumpert

Two cousin companies bet the fast-expanding market for animal RFID chips will extend to humans before long

Under the federally supported National Animal Identification System (NAIS), digital tags are expected to be affixed to the U.S.'s 40 million farm animals to enable regulators to track and respond quickly to disease, bioterrorism, and other calamities. Opponents have many fears about this plan, among them that it could be the forerunner of a similar system for humans. The theory, circulated in blogs, goes like this: You test it on the animals first, demonstrating the viability of the radio frequency identification devices (RFIDs) to monitor each and every animal's movements and health history from birth to death, and then move on to people.

Well, all you conspiracy buffs, let me introduce you to Kevin McGrath and Scott Silverman.

McGrath heads a small, growing company that makes RFID chips for animals…and people.

Silverman heads a second company that sells the rice-size people chips, which are the only ones with Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approval, for implantation in an individual's right biceps. They carry an identity marker that would be linked to medical records. His goal is to create "the first RFID company for people." Human-Chip Company Plans IPO

RFID isn't really "future tech" but long-time FT pingees know that I flag RFID articles which discuss novel applications of the technology.

And anyhow, it's not as if anyone's inbox runneth over with FT pings lately! :)

Silverman says: "We are leaders in the RFID industry in facing privacy issues head on." The chip for people "should always be a voluntary product, with opt-in and opt-out capability."

Voluntary? You mean like social security and income taxes voluntary?

Voluntary, these chips can be placed on your body and you would never know it. I have worked with these items and they are nearly impossible to detect.
"Conspiracy theory" but children could be implanted at the hospital when they are born and parents would not be aware of the chips.
Oh, never mind its late, I should just go to bed.

Revelation 13: 16-17

16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

wouldn't we just be able to get an MI to deal with the problem? If it didn't pull it out, it should mess it up.

If the chips are similar to what are put in animals you would not be able to pull it out, assuming you even knew you had it in you. There are very small wholes in the chips to allow muscle tissues to grow through it to keep it from migrating from the impute point through the body.
I am not sure what you mean by MI. If you are talking about magnets destroying the information, I think thats not going to work because there usually is some kind of shielding device to keep out side inference negated.
