United Flight 23 on 9-11
History Channel | 1-6-2007 | Self

Posted on 01/10/2007 10:21:56 AM PST by TruthWillWin

Saw a documentary, "Grounded on 9-11" on the History Channel a few days ago that mentioned something major about 9-11 that I have not heard before.

At 9:00AM on 9-11 United Airlines sent to all planes a warning message regarding the other hijacks. On United Flight 23, that was on the runway, the captain decided on his own not to take off. He fakes a mechanical problem and returns to the gate!

When the passengers were asked to exit the plan three Middle Eastern men, or possibly as many as six, refuse to follow the request to deplane. Security is called but they flee before it arrived. Later, authorities check their luggage and find copies of the Koran and al-Qaeda instruction sheets.

I'm sure we put a tail on the dudes. We always want the bad guys to lead us to the big guys. The dummies blow themselves up. The bad guys collect the money.

Thank you! I stand corrected (as does Coop research or whoever misquoted them)... WPtG has info (link below) that it was a Newark to LA flight, see post #32.

Kirk is adamant that Ballinger did save the passengers and crew of United Flight 23, which on Sept. 11 was about to depart from Newark, N.J., to Los Angeles. Kirk believes Flight 23 was going to be commandeered.

OK, so my pea brain is NOT playing tricks on me. Someone else remembers this as well. Actually, I also remember thinking at that time that that their identity would be lost to history. I am surprised that any further mention is being made about them.

The fact that they could get themselves onto an aircraft and get as far as they did on a day with those sort of events taking place, is a circumstance that no security officials would like to pursue if not pressed to do so. I figured that story would would be abandoned in the shuffle to cover the other more concrete events. It is funny the kind of things that flash through your mind and seem significant at that instant but which can be recalled with such clarity later.

Successes in the WOT are taboo subjects.

That is true, and not just for the reasons you suppose. I have acquaintances and friends who work for some agencies in DC, and they say, "You have no idea how many terror attacks we have prevented." But the attempts are not announced. The authorities don't want the bad guys back home in Jihadistan to know which operations we've cleaned up and which cells we've destroyed. They certain don't want the folks back home to figure out our methods.

Read up about Operation Bojinka (foiled al Qaeda plot from the mid 90s that bears some resemblance to 9/11). Bojinka was to feature eleven hijacked airliners. Only four crashed on 9/11. There probably were more.

Yes. PISANO, exactly.

Y'all need to get this through your heads 9/11 was a FAILED attack.

They tried to take down the world's economy at the World Trade Center. They FAILED.
They tried to kill 50,000 people in those buildings. They FAILED.

They tried to destroy our Military Command structure at the Pentagon. They FAILED.

They tried to destroy our central government with FLT 93. They FAILED.

Only God, Satan/allah, and OBL know exactly what else they failed at, but us mere mortals know one thing: They FAILED.

Losers!

Found this on www.cooperativeresearch.com

September 19, 2001: Unverified Reports of Additional Flights to Be Hijacked

The FBI claims on this day that there were six hijacking teams on the morning of 9/11. [New York Times, 9/19/2001; Guardian, 10/13/2001] A different report claims investigators are privately saying eight. [Independent, 9/25/2001]

However, the reports below suggest there may have been as many as eight aborted flights, leading to a potential total of 12 hijackings:

Knives of the same type used in the successful hijackings were found taped to the backs of fold-down trays on a Continental Airlines flight from Newark. [Guardian, 9/19/2001]

The FBI is investigating American Airlines Flight 43, which was scheduled to leave Boston about 8:10 a.m. bound for Los Angeles but was canceled minutes before takeoff due to a mechanical problem. [BBC, 9/18/2001; Chicago Tribune, 9/18/2001; Guardian, 9/19/2001] Another version claims the flight left from Newark and made it as far as Cincinnati before being grounded in the nationwide air ban. [New York Times, 9/19/2001]

Knives and box cutters were found on two separate canceled Delta Airlines planes later that day, one leaving Atlanta for Brussels and the other leaving from Boston. [Time, 9/22/2001; Independent, 9/25/2001]

On September 14, two knives were found on an Air Canada flight that would have flown to New York on 9/11 if not for the air ban. [CNN, 10/15/2001]

Two men arrested on 9/11 may have lost their nerve on American Airlines Flight 1729 from Newark to San Antonio via Dallas that was scheduled to depart at 8:50 a.m., and was later forced to land in St. Louis. Alternately, they may have been planning an attack for September 15, 2001. [New York Times, 9/19/2001]

There may have been an attempt to hijack United Airlines Flight 23 flying from Boston to Los Angeles around 9:00 a.m. Shortly after 9:00 a.m., United Airlines flight dispatcher Ed Ballinger sent out a warning about the first WTC crash to the flights he was handling (see (After 9:00 a.m.) September 11, 2001). Because of this warning, the crew of Flight 23 told the passengers it had a mechanical problem and immediately returned to the gate. Ballinger was later told by authorities that six men initially wouldn’t get off the plane. When the men finally disembarked, they disappeared into the crowd and never returned. Later, authorities checked their luggage and found copies of the Koran and al-Qaeda instruction sheets. [Chicago Daily Herald, 4/14/2004]

In mid-2002, a NORAD deputy commander says “we don’t know for sure” if Flight 23 was to have been hijacked. [Globe and Mail, 6/13/2002]

Knives were found stashed in the seats on a plane due to leave Boston that was delayed due to technical problems and then canceled. [Guardian, 10/13/2001]

A box cutter knife was found under a seat cushion on American Airlines Flight 160, a 767 that would have flown from San Diego to New York on the morning of 9/11 but for the air ban. [Chicago Tribune, 9/23/2001]

The FBI is said to be seeking a number of passengers who failed to board the same, rescheduled flights when the grounding order on commercial planes in the US was lifted. [BBC, 9/18/2001]

The Independent points out suspicions have been fueled “that staff at US airports may have played an active role in the conspiracy and helped the hijackers to circumvent airport security.” They also note, “It is possible that at least some of the flights that have come under scrutiny were used as decoys, or as fallback targets.” [Independent, 9/25/2001]

Wow! Talk about going down a memory hole. I vaguely recall something about this at the time. Seems like the the story got lost in all the coverage of the successful hijacks.

The one thing that I found to be curious was one of the main anchormen that I don't recall now (Rather, Brokaw?)said in breathless tones "we have just heard that the North (south?) Tower has fallen!" Then he looks at the monitors and says - well, obviously the tower has not fallen. Then, about 2 minutes later (longer than a technical delay) the tower DOES fall. I've always wondered about that.

Of course, typing it now I realize that the first note may have had actually said something like "they are evacuating people from the area because the North Tower is in risk of collapse and the anchor got excited and confused.

IIRC, Moussoui (the so-called 20ieth hijacker) said one time that there were 5 teams who were supposed to hijack planes that morning.

I'd be willing to bet Moussoui's team wasn't the only one. OBL and his ilk are smart enough to not put all the eggs in one basket. Operating separate cells is SOP for these guys.

I agree with your thoughts. It was in essence a failure. They expected 50,000 to be killed in NY and all the major government buildings in DC to be destroyed.

But for the Grace of God, they would have succeeded. And pondering the entire matter, we are the only nation on earth that is strong enough and brave enough to take on this monstrous enemy. The cowardness and weakness of other nations was vividly projected.

We were tested during the Clinton Administration. Bubba did nothing and the monster grew bolder.

I thank God for President Bush. It was the right person at the right time. And thank you to our allies.

Seems like the the story got lost in all the coverage of the successful hijacks.

Remember when the building in Oklahoma City was blown up. Within hours we had pictures or drawings of possible suspects plastered all over the media. Why not the same for Flight 23, an obvious terriorist hijacking attempt?

More to the point, we needed the wake-up call, and Our GOD - the real one, allowed their god - shaitan/allah, to do just enough damage to get our attention.

The MSM has been trying to put us back to sleep ever since. I guess that clarifies who's side they are really on, if there was any question...

Maybe. Let's ask Richard Clarke, since he's the one who authorized them.
