The Constitution Party, a conservative third party founded in 1992 to serve as a possible ticket for Pat Buchanan to run on, plans to have nominated its candidate for President by July 2007, World Net Daily reports.
The party held a national committee meeting last weekend where Howard Phillips, who is the party's founder and three time Presidential candidate (1992, 1996 and 2000), told World Net Daily "The time has never been better for a third party dark horse candidate to grab the White House."
Phillips said that the party will nominate candidate next year and among the possibilities are: Jim Gilchrist, former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes, Pastor Chuck Baldwin and World Net Daily columnist Jerome Corsi.
"The Constitution Party is also strongly supportive of Republican Congressmen Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul, but there is no decision yet that either would leave their home in the Republican Party to pursue a Constitution Party nomination. Tancredo has said numerous times he is considering a run for the presidency.
"The American public are angry at both the Democratic and Republican Party," Phillips said. "If neither major party wants to listen to the American middle class, the Constitution Party is ready to enter center stage and get back to the basics that have made the republic established by our founding fathers work for over 230 years."
Well, we'll see.
The Constitution Party does seem intent on being first out of the gate, however.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....ok, I'm done....No, wait...BWHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I think I just gave myself a hernia.
Pipe dreams.
We have a two party system for POTUS.
And the day Tancredo jumps ship and runs third party is the day we are assured to have President Hillary Clinton or President Osama Obama.
Conservative my a** Below is from lthe const. web site.
It is no different than the left wing anti war idiots.
CONSTITUTION PARTY IS NOT CONSERVATIVE
see below
Terrorism and Personal Liberty
America is engaged in an undeclared war with an ill-defined enemy (terrorism), a war which threatens to be never ending, and which is being used to vastly expand government power, particularly that of the executive branch, at the expense of the individual liberties of the American people.
The "war on terrorism" is serving as an excuse for the government to spend beyond its income, expand the Federal bureaucracy, and socialize the nation through taxpayer bailouts of the airlines, subsidies to the giant insurance corporations, and other Federal programs.
the from their web site
He won't attract that many votes. They never do and Ralph or another leftie kook will drain from the democrats.
Of course, this is exactly what the Tancredo brigades want. They want to destroy the GOP just as much as the Democrats do.
Also, Your Ron Paul who is anti war has been named as one of her favorites by Cindy Sheehan
None of the names mentioned above could get enough votes to make an impact. The GOP candidate only has to fear a charismatic conservative or populist running as an Independent.
Most of us who want to stop the illegals hate the above type as much as you do. Don't lump us all together.
I would ONLY be concerned about a third party candidate if that candidate is John McCain, running as an Independent.
Very true. I tend to lean libertarian, but unless something major happens, I'll always vote republican in presidential elections. Unless the candidate is a total fool, but that would have to make them more of a fool than the democrat, which is very unlikely.
Are you sure that's not from the DNC web site ...
Exactly right. You're a smart and pragmatic voter!
just google const. party and ther it is.
Just another anti war party
A third party is something that no one who is serious about their country's future can even consider. Did we not learn this lesson when Bill Clinton was inaugurated with 43% of the vote in January, 1993? Good grief.
Oh, and don't look for the Constitution Party to do anything but undermine the (most significant in U.S. history) war against terrorists.
Finally, the Constitution Party is not pro-life. They claim that they are so, but down deep, the Constitution Party supports legal abortion as much as Democrats.
BTW, I can guess who the LP candidate will be. Can you?
Ooooh Pick me! Pick Me!
LP, CP, etc. put dems in office.
Always vote Republican.
