Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

My husband spent hours on the phone with even more of our stock fund managers today making plans to move money to money markets in the event of a national emergency. We want to be able to do that electronically because the phones will be jammed.
They all (Wall Street analysts) said they've received numerous phone calls from their clients about this. People see the handwriting on the wall.

I'm just turning the television off and won't listen to another word today from the media. It's all too sickening.
I am really getting scared that they may get the WH in 08....I see no GOP candidate that will have a chance, especially with the closed mind conservatives.
I'm scared too and so is my husband, and he's typically the most calm person in the entire state of South Carolina.
I like nearly all the candidates (except McCain but I'd vote for him if I had to), but going to the candidate-specific threads is an exercise in torture. The "pure" conservatives hate everybody. Well, everybody who could possibly win, that is. We're in trouble.

One thing that is imperative is to get CONGRESS back in the GOP's hands...that way, IF a Dem is elected...he/she won't be able to do as much harm.
However..when we have talk show hosts like Laura Ingraham...who said this morning that she would vote for a democrat for POTUS, if they were pro-choice...because the Republicans have screwed things up pretty bad.
THEN we are in trouble...because I think it was her rhetoric and even Sean's and others that were complaining about the borders, Harriet Miers, Dubai ports..etc...that got so many conservative voters NOT to vote in November.
If they keep it up....it will carry over to next elections...IMHO.

Laura said that? OMG. She really is an idiot. A complete and total idiot. I can't remember the last time I listened to talk radio. It was probably before the election, but a lot of them made some big mistakes that upset conservatives, depressed voter turnout (as you mentioned) and seemed very hard-hearted and played into every leftist mindset about how mean conservatives are.
I'm sick of them. I'm sick of FNC. I rarely have the television on at all but do read the news on FR. For some reason, reading the news isn't nearly as upsetting as watching the same story reported on television.
Specter up complaining that it took so long for Bush to terminate the NSA terrorist surveillance program..
Wants it terminated NOW.

BTW...Harry Reid is up complaining about the GOP Senators saying they are NOT going to vote for the Ethics Bill...
Harry is mad...so he is bringing up Libby, Delay, and all of the other GOP people that have ever been in trouble.

Laura Ingraham is staunchly pro-life. Why would she say she would vote for a dem if he were pro-choice?
I have two theories on why, both are probably wrong..
1.....he needs to end it before a Dem Pres is elected....
2.....he has something else to take it's place that the rats don't know about(wishful thinking)
Gosh, what I read on FR this morning was that Republicans made the bill stronger with regard to ethics. SOmething about how Congressmen can no longer have their families serve in PACs and in Congress. There was a thread about it on FR early this morning.
I am really enjoying watching how upset and disturbed Dingy is over this. For once he is not feigning his foot stomping little fury. McConnell is denying him his soundbite over how dems have just cleaned up everything in DC when they haven't really done any such thing.
