Senate & House Coverage -- (January 2007)
THOMAS ^ | January 2007

Posted on 01/02/2007 7:45:37 PM PST by Mo1

Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!

.

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,

Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats

And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Harry Reid is up in his sad sack mode. He has decided that enough is enough and is filing a petition for cloture, I guess.

McConnell up pointing out that they tried to raise the minimum wage last year, but the dems didn't like the modification of the death tax.

The last raise was passed in conjunction with tax and regulatory relief.

Why are they working, don't they know it's Friday?

They will work extra hard if it means doing the President damage. Never doubt their dedication to that cause.

Burr says they called Cloture on that Iraq Resolution and it hasn't been brought up to the desk yet

Sounds like Reid is trying to cut off debate ... am I right in my thinking?

I was just watching c-span..and they were giving a rundown on what is coming up next week.

Bah...I already mentioned the note from Fox News about the hearing in New Orleans by the Homeland Security Committee, and one other..not sure which.

But, C-span said that there will be a hearing with the Foreign Relations Committee...with the Iraq Study Group members, Lee Hamilton, Edwin Meese, and James Baker...

Also..there will be a hearing by the Judiciary Committee with some "scholars" to find out if there is a LEGAL way that the Congress can STOP Pres. Bush's war!!!

In the meantime, our troops are over there fighting their hearts out...and dying. ugh.

I heard some ex-General on CNN today, (he was on the phone)..and he was telling the news girl...that "unfortunately, a lot more of our young men and women are going to die, especially with this surge...hopefully not too many"

He never even mentioned that 250 of the bad guys were killed by our men and women...

Anyway...I just thought I would let you all know what we are in for this next week.

I, for one, want to see those hearings...because I don't trust the media to report exactly what is said.
