I agree with both of you.

The vast majority of us do not need antibacterial hand soap -- yet it is becoming increasingly difficult to find soap that doesn't contain antibacterial additives. Just washing correctly with ordinary soap does as good a job; and doesn't breed super-bugs.

Also, people on antibiotics should take the whole course of treatment prescribed.

I'm not big into the evo debate, but I feel compelled to point out that adaptation and evolution are two different things. We develop immunities all the time, that does not mean we've evolved into something we weren't last year.

But this pathogen doesn't have an adapting immune system. Its DNA has genuinely mutated, turning it into a resistant strain. That's evolution.

Uh, you might want to brush up on your science a little. Strains are not mutations. They coexist with other strains and become dominant when the other strains are killed off. That's pretty much the definition of "strain." If something had mutated they would be talking about mutated variations, not strains.

Doctor.

A soldier in my unit had the same thing (Spider bite on a beach).

Ignored it for a few days and then went to sick call.

They managed to save his foot, but he did loose a couple of toes.

Wrong.

Some of us do believe that Dr. Darwin's theory was right.

We just have not turned it into a religion to replace all others.

Evolution (and devolution) are not incompatible with Christianity. The difference lies in the starting point.

She is fine now,but the scars will be there forever. For a woman, that is hard ,but I am so glad she is OK.Heck, half my body is scarred and she loves me!I did a lot of reading on that stuff, and it is plumb nasty.I wouldn't wish it on anyone except the nutjob from Iran!Thank you for asking.I would recommend anyone who starts having strange boils be checked out.AND,it is contacted many times through hospital visits. It is rampant in hospitals. If people want to argue that fact, check their records.Or,go to the place where they do the treatment.I doubt they would like that, exposure and all.

I'm glad to hear she is OK; it sounds like you both went through some seriously hard times. I'm covered with scars but it doesn't bother me; I can see how it would affect a woman but the brightside is that she is still alive. Some of the necratizing bacteria is so nasty they have to amputate limbs just to stop it. It's just plain nasty!

Is she completely out of the woods?

"Should I worry, do y'all think?"

I'd go to the doctor and ask him if you have the MRSA bug.

Yes for now.Knowing what I know now about this/that horrible stuff[that is all I can refer to it as]I pour my heart out to those less fortunate. We had a hard time even getting the personnel at the hospital to give us info on what to do at home to minimize any recurrences. We spent a small fortune buying anti bacterial this or that, etc.I believe she is out of the woods only because she was very healthy to begin with.If she hadn't been strong to start with,I do not think she would be here.Thank you for your concern.Regards, xarmydog

The organism is an ''old foe with new fangs'', a pathogen that is virulent, drug-resistant

These "new fangs" we owe to the false god of Free Market. Agrobusiness in search of little extra profit feeds huge number of animals with PRECIOUS antibiotics. This leads to the emergence of drug resistant germs and in the end one of the greatest advances in medicine will be destroyed.

Because there isn't a treatment that can purge your body completely of HIV

There is a cure for AIDS you know ... 5000 rads of gamma radiation will fix that sucker right up.

...the greatest advances in medicine will be destroyed...

The sad part is, that this will be just another case of "and the band played on". Globalism will probably affect the demise of civilization. I think it might be fun to dig out of the ashes, like in the aftermath of a decent asteroid. Imagine the fun of inventing steam locomotives all over again.

Seriously, the fools in control don't care. The really high-up fools can insulate themselves from nasty consequences such as these. I'm beginning to hear that awful voice in the back of my mind that says, "The Tree of Liberty is getting thirsty".
