Is it APO or FPO friendly shipping? (Vanity)
Free Republic ^ | 12-24-06 | Enterprise

This thread is an attempt to keep a handy record of companies that Freepers might contact, who will ship to APO or FPO addresses. Perhaps later, when there are a lot of companies, a link to a list of them can be done on the front page. My reason for this is that it might make it immensely easier for a Freeper to contact a company which can ship a product, instead of the Freeper having to buy the produce, pack it, fill out a customs form, and then ship it. It will still cost the same, but it should be a LOT easier!

A starter list. Note: This is not a solicitation to purchase from any of these companies nor does it constitute an endorsement by Free Republic of any of them.

APO is ?Army Post Office.

FPO is ?f? Post Office?

I think the Marines have FPO's. Extra info from those who know would be enjoyed.

Wouldn't hurt to call attention to those that WON'T ship to APO OR FPO addresses and ask why. Paypal doesn't have a way of printing out these addresses nor does ebay.

Maybe it is a way of avoiding abuse, but in the interest of getting things to the troops faster and cheaper, it wouldn't hurt to see if they can look at their procedures.

Even if a company won't ship to an APO/FPO address itself, you can still send that product to an APO/FPO address by using a specialized commercial shipping company. Here's a link to one:

For those who want the short answer:

APO - Army/Air Post Office.

FPO Navy/Marine Post Office.

We West Coasters get a postage cost break shipping FPO because it goes out of San Francisco. East Coasters get a postage price break shipping APO because it goes out of New York.
